Right-handed pitcher Darren McCaughan designated for release or assignment

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Minnesota Twins have announced the selection of right-handed pitcher Scott Blewett’s contract from Triple-A St. Paul.
Blewett has made two appearances for the Saints this season, allowing three runs on three hits across 2.1 innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. During Twins major league spring training, he compiled a 2.79 ERA (9.2 innings, 3 earned runs) in eight games (one start), striking out seven and walking three, before being reassigned to minor league camp on March 25. In 2024, the 28-year-old posted a combined record of 6-3 with a 3.24 ERA (75.0 innings, 27 earned runs), notching 72 strikeouts and 25 walks across 50 games for St. Paul and Minnesota.
To accommodate Blewett on both the 26-man and 40-man rosters, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Darren McCaughan for release or assignment. McCaughan, who joined the team on March 31, has made three relief appearances this season, recording a 1.69 ERA (5.1 innings, 1 earned run) with six strikeouts, one hold, and one walk.
