This move brings the Red Sox’ 40-man roster count down to 39.

Priester, a 24-year-old right-hander, made his season debut for Triple-A Worcester on April 3, pitching 4.0 innings and allowing two runs in Jacksonville. Across 21 Major League appearances (15 starts) with the Pittsburgh Pirates (2023-24) and Red Sox (2024), he has posted a 6.23 ERA (69 earned runs over 99.2 innings). Originally drafted 18th overall by the Pirates in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, Priester was acquired by Boston last summer in exchange for minor league infielder Nick Yorke on July 29, 2024.

Rodriguez, a highly regarded prospect at just 19 years old, is currently ranked as the Brewers’ No. 7 prospect, according to MLB.com. The left-handed hitter has made an impressive start this season at High-A Wisconsin, batting .417 (5-for-12) with three runs, a double, and a triple over three games in center field. Signed as an international free agent by Milwaukee on January 15, 2023, the Dominican Republic native boasts a career batting line of .254 (155-for-610) in 165 minor league games, tallying 37 doubles, nine triples, 13 home runs, 96 RBIs, 96 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases.

This trade underscores Boston’s commitment to building for the future while giving the Brewers a seasoned arm to bolster their pitching depth.
