Rangers recall INF/OF Eli White from Round Rock; OF/DH Khris Davis designated for assignment

White will be in third stint with Rangers in 2021

Arlington, Texas – The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has recalled infielder/outfielder Eli White from Triple-A Round Rock. To make room for White on the active roster, the team has designated outfielder/designated hitter Khris Davis for assignment.

White, 26, has batted .127 with no home runs and 4 RBI over 22 games/16 starts spanning two stints with the Rangers this season: Opening Day-May 7 and May 9-13. He last played for the Rangers on May 13 at Houston. Over 20 games with Round Rock, White has batted .343/.450/.537/.987 (23-67) with 3 home runs and 11 RBI. He saw action at five different positions with the Express, making starts at second base (7), center field (5), right field (2), third base (1), and first base (1). He went 2-for-3 last night vs. El Paso in a start at third base.

Davis has hit .157 (8-51) with 2 home runs and 5 RBI over 22 games since he was activated following a season-opening stint on the 10-day Injured List from March 29-May 6 with a left quad strain. He was acquired in a February 6 trade with the Oakland Athletics involving Elvis Andrus. The Rangers have seven days to trade, release, or outright Davis to the minor leagues.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers now have 39 players on the Major League roster, along with seven players on the 60-day Injured List.
