Austin Martin recalled from Triple-A St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day Injured List with right knee inflammation (retroactive to May 2).

Buxton, who left Wednesday’s game in Chicago after experiencing right knee soreness, played in 28 games this season, hitting .250 (23-for-92) with eight doubles, one triple, one home run, 11 RBI and 12 runs scored.

To replace Buxton on the 26-man roster, the Twins have recalled utility player Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul. Martin, who was optioned to St. Paul on April 29, recently appeared in two games for the Saints, going 3-for-7 with one RBI and three walks. In his first stint with the Twins, Martin played in 22 games, hitting .226 (14-for-62) with six doubles, one home run, six RBI, 16 runs scored, six walks and two stolen bases.
