OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated J.D. Davis from the 10-day injured list and selected infielder Brett Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today. To clear a spot on the active roster, Nick Allen was optioned to Las Vegas. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred Freddy Tarnok to the 60-day injured list.

Davis was placed on the IL on April 15 with a strained right groin. He began a rehab assignment with Las Vegas last Sunday and went 3-for-15 (.200) with a double, two walks and six strikeouts in four games. Davis was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .196 with two home runs and two RBI in 14 games before going on the IL.

Harris was batting .289 with three home runs, 20 RBI and an .874 OPS in 27 games with Las Vegas. He started 21 games at third base, three at second base and one each at shortstop and designated hitter. The 25-year-old right-handed hitter was originally selected by the A’s in the seventh round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft and is rated as the A’s ninth-best prospect by MLB.com. Harris is a .281 hitter with 32 home runs, 159 RBI and an .825 OPS in 272 games in four seasons in the minors. He also has 128 walks for a .380 on-base percentage.

Allen was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .171 with a home run and three RBI in 28 games. He started 23 of the A’s 32 games at shortstop. Tarnok began the season on the injured list with an inflamed right hip.
