Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has signed right wing Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout contract.
Chiasson, 30, played 45 games for the Edmonton Oilers last season, recording 16 points (9-7-16) and 33 penalty minutes. He ranked fourth on the Oilers in power play goals (5) and tied for fifth in power play points (7) last season.
In 564 career NHL regular season games with Dallas, Ottawa, Calgary, Washington, and Edmonton, Chiasson has registered 202 points (101-101-202) and 329 penalty minutes. The 6’4″, 208-pound forward has also appeared in 37 career NHL playoff games (4-3-7), including a Stanley Cup victory with the Washington Capitals in 2018.
A native of Montréal, Québec, Chiasson was originally drafted in the second round, 38th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
