-The Penguins continue along their three-game road trip through California as they take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Honda Center (TV: SportsNet Pittsburgh; Radio: 105.9 The X). -Pittsburgh enters tonight’s game with wins in six of its last eight games against Anaheim (6-2-0). Going back further, the Penguins are 13-6-0 in their last 19 games against them dating back to Nov. 18, 2013. -The Penguins have wins in three of their last four visits to the Honda Center (3- 1-0) and are 6-3-0 in their last nine visits to Anaheim dating back to Mar. 7, 2014.

TONIGHT’S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks host the third contest of a five-game homestand tonight vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins at Honda Center (7 p.m. PT, TV: Bally Sports SoCal, AUDIO: Ducks Stream). Anaheim enters tonight’s game with six straight wins, the longest current win streak in the NHL and the Ducks’ first such win streak since eight consecutive victories Oct. 31 to Nov. 16, 2021. During the win streak, Anaheim has outscored opponents 26-17, while scoring six PPG (6-20, 30%) and killing 24-of-29 penalties (82.8%). The Ducks enter tonight’s contest 7-4-0 this season while opponents have a combined 41-16-3 record entering at the start of games. Anaheim has scored 37 goals the first 11 games, tied for the most in the first 11 games of a season in franchise history (also 2012-13). The Ducks have also scored six PPG the last four games (6-11, 54.6%), with multiple PPG in two of the last four contests. The Ducks continue their 14-game November schedule, posting a 158-136-66 record in the month all-time in addition to earning points in 75 of 115 games the last 10 seasons (.652%). Following tonight’s game, the Ducks will continue the homestand when they host Philadelphia on Friday, Nov. 9 (7 p.m. PT).
CARDIAC COMEBACKS: The Ducks are the first team in NHL history to have five third-period comeback wins through their first 11 games of a season. Anaheim’s five comeback wins lead the NHL this season, with all five of the comeback victories coming during the club’s six-game win streak. The Ducks are the third club in NHL history to post at least five third-period comeback victories throughout a win streak of any length, joining the 2018-19 Sabres (6 in 10 GP) and 2013-14 Penguins (5 in 15 GP). The Ducks are also one of two teams this season (also Toronto) to record multiple two-goal, third period comeback wins. The Ducks also co-lead the NHL with five comeback wins overall. Anaheim’s three comeback wins in a span of four games Oct. 24-30 marked the third time in club history the team has done so. The only prior instances came March 15-20, 2015 and March 20-26, 2011. Only 82 instances in NHL history have clubs won three games in a span of four contests after trailing in the third period. The Ducks became the 13th team in NHL history to win consecutive road games in OT after trailing in the third period of each contest (last: TBL, Oct. 14, 2021 (7-6 OTW @ DET) and Oct. 16, 2021 (2-1 OTW @ WSH). Anaheim forced OT after trailing by two goals with 1:55 in regulation to earn 4-3 OT victory, Oct. 26 @ BOS. The Ducks also overcame a 2-1, third-period deficit with 3:47 left in regulation and earned a 3-2 OT win Oct. 24 @ CBJ.
DUCKS-PENGUINS: Anaheim and Pittsburgh close out their two-game season series tonight at Honda Center. The Ducks opened the 2023-24 series with a 4-3 win at PPG Paints Arena (Oct. 30). Mason McTavish tallied 2-1=3 points, including his first career shorthanded goal (GWG) with 12.8 seconds remaining in regulation. His GWG made him the fifth player in NHL history with a go-ahead SHG at 19:47 of the third period or later (regular season or playoffs), the latest such goal in nearly 35 years. Jakob Silfverberg and Frank Vatrano also tallied Anaheim’s additional two goals, while Paval Mintyukov recorded his first career multi-point/assist game (0-2=2). Lukas Dostal stopped 33-of-35 shots in 40:00 of relief. The Ducks own an all-time record of 16-23-4 vs. the Penguins, including a 10-9-1 mark in Orange County, earning points in nine of its last 15 home contests in the series (9-6-1). Henrique leads active Ducks skaters in career scoring (3-6=9) and assists, while he co-leads in goal scoring along with McTavsh, SIlfverberg and Fowler. McTavish has recorded 3- 3=6 points with a +4 rating in three career contests vs. the Penguins (2.0 points per game).
