EW YORK – New York Islanders forward Mathew Barzal has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for high-sticking Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tony DeAngelo during NHL Game No. 167 in New York on Saturday, Nov. 4, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 2:56 of the second period. Barzal was assessed a minor penalty for high-sticking.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
