Akira Schmid shined in the 2022-23 playoffs, and earned his first-career postseason shutout (vs NYR) and became the third rookie netminder in franchise history who earned a shutout in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Swiss native was the first rookie netminder in franchise history who earned two shutouts in a single postseason. Schmid became the first netminder in franchise history who won his first-three career postseason appearances. Vanecek started in the team’s opener, while Schmid played the next night on Oct. 13, vs Arizona.
