WORTH THE WAIT: The Yankees’ third-round pick of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, RHP Zach McAllister, made his Yankees debut in Game 2 of Tuesday’s doubleheader…according to Elias, his 17-year difference between being drafted by the Yankees and making his debut with the club is the largest gap in Yankees history (excludes players who were drafted by the Yankees and then drafted again by another club)…Mike Fischlin is the only other such player to have 10-plus years in between being drafted and making his Yankees debut (drafted in the seventh round in 1975 and made his Yankees debut in 1986)… McAllister’s appearance yesterday also marked his first Major League appearance since 8/16/18 at Minnesota with Detroit. RHP Matt Bowman also made his Yankees debut in Game 2 on Tuesday, marking his first Major League appearance since 9/28/19 at Pittsburgh with Cincinnati.
WHAT A RELIEF: Yankees relievers combined to toss 9.1 scoreless innings of relief during Tuesday’s doubleheader at Boston…have not allowed a run in their last 10.1 innings and have allowed just one earned run in their last 15.1 innings over their last three games (since 9/10). Yankees relievers have posted a Major League-best 3.25 ERA this season…are one of two bullpens in the Majors to post an ERA 3.50-or-better (also Baltimore -3.50).
