Phillies reinstate Suárez and Pache

Prior to tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Phillies reinstated left-handed pitcher Ranger Suárez from the 15-day injured list (right hamstring strain) and recalled outfielder Cristian Pache from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list (right elbow irritation), expanding the roster to 28 players.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcements.

Suárez, 28, has made 17 starts for the Phillies this season and is 2-6 with a 3.88 ERA (42 ER, 97.1 IP). He has gone at least 5.0 innings in each of his last 15 outings (since 5/24) which is the longest such streak of his career, eclipsing his previous high of 10 straight starts from June 17-Aug. 23, 2022. He has posted a 3.45 ERA (35 ER, 91.1 IP) in those 15 outings. The Venezuela native returns after being placed on the injured list on August 19 (retroactive to 8/16).

Suárez was signed by the Phillies as an amateur free agent on April 1, 2012.

Pache, 24, batted .279 (12-43) with one double, two RBI, nine walks, three stolen bases and 10 runs scored in 11 games while rehabbing with Lehigh Valley and single-A Clearwater. He is slashing .327/.365/.592 with a .957 OPS in 32 games for the Phillies this season. Defensively, Pache has appeared in 17 games (4 starts) in left field, 14 games (11 starts) in center field and one game in right field with the Phillies.

The Dominican Republic native was acquired from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan on March 29.
