Red Sox recall Left-handed Pitcher Brandon Walter and Infielder Emmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled left-handed pitcher Brandon Walter and infielder Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester.

Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom made the announcement.

Walter, 26, has posted a 3.07 ERA (5 ER/14.2 IP) in six games for Boston this season, his first Major League experience. The left-hander has also recorded a 4.75 ERA (47 ER/89.0 IP) in 20 games (17 starts) with Worcester, including a 1.16 ERA (3 ER/23.1 IP) in five August outings (four starts). Ranked as the one of the Red Sox’ top 10 pitching prospects by Baseball America (No. 4) and MLB.com (No. 7), the Delaware native was selected by Boston in the 26th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft.

Valdez, 24, has hit .234 (22-for-94) with four doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBI in 33 games for the Red Sox this season, his Major League debut. The left-handed hitter has also batted .249 (43-for-173) with eight doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, and 38 RBI in 51 games for Worcester. Acquired by Boston from the Houston Astros on August 1, 2022, the Dominican Republic native is ranked as the Red Sox’ No. 17 prospect by Baseball America.
