MLS Preview: FC Cincinnati (16-3-6) at Atlanta United FC (11-7-8)

Atlanta United FC has lost only one of its 10 all-time matches against FC Cincinnati (W5 D4), a 1-0 defeat during MLS is Back. FC Cincinnati has managed to earn two draws in five visits to Atlanta United FC, a 1-1 draw in their first visit in 2019 and a scoreless draw in their most recent visit in 2022.

Atlanta United FC has won consecutive matches for the third time this season, including a 4-0 home win over Nashville SC on Saturday. It was the 38th time Atlanta United FC has scored at least three goals in a regular-season home match, tied with the Philadelphia Union for the most in MLS since they joined the league in 2017.

In its 150th regular-season match, FC Cincinnati defeated New York City FC 3-0 on Saturday, its 20th win in its last 32 regular-season matches dating back to September 2022 (D8 L4). FC Cincinnati had won just 22 of its first 118 regular-season matches (D29 L67) before this run.

Thiago Almada provided two assists and scored one of his own in Atlanta United FC’s win over Nashville SC on Saturday, taking his totals to a league-leading 13 assists and 22 total goal contributions, tied with FC Cincinnati’s Luciano Acosta for most in MS this season.

Luciano Acosta has scored six goals against Atlanta United FC in MLS play, more than any other player. Only one of those goals, however, was scored in the five matches Acosta has played against the Atlanta United FC Five Stripes as a member of FC Cincinnati.
