ROSTER MOVES: The Tigers have announced the following roster moves:
*On Sunday, INF Isan Díaz cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple A Toledo

*The Tigers 40-man roster is now at 39 MIGGY MASH: Miguel Cabrera launched a three-run home run in the eighth inning of yesterday’s game, the 510th of his Major League career, breaking a tie with Gary Sheffield for 26th place in MLB history. With the three RBI, he now has 1,871 in his career, moving past Mel Ott into sole possession of 11th place on the all-time RBI list. Entering tonight’s game, Cabrera has 3,151 career hits, one shy of tying Paul Waner (3,152) for 18th and three away from equaling George Brett (3,154) for 17th.

AT COMERICA PARK: The Tigers are 2-4 on their current 10-game homestand, which includes three games vs. Chicago (NL) (1-2), three games vs. Houston (1-2) and four games vs. New York (AL) (August 28-31). Detroit is 28-37 at Comerica Park this season. As a team, the Tigers are hitting .244/.310/.381 at home, while the pitching staff has a 4.89 ERA (595.0IP/323ER).

TIGERS AND YANKEES: The Tigers and Yankees begin their seven-game season series tonight. Along with the four games this week in Detroit, the two teams will also play a three-game set in The Bronx from September 5-7. The Tigers went 1-5 against the Yankees last season, including losing two-of-three games at Comerica Park.

  • Olson will make the 16th appearance and 13th start of his Major League career tonight in the series opener vs. New York (AL). • Received a no decision in his last start on Tuesday vs. Chicago (NL), allowing six runs on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in 4.2 innings. • Will be making his first career appearance against the Yankees tonight…in nine career outings, including seven starts, at Comerica Park, he has a 2-3 record with a 5.53 ERA (42.1IP/26ER) and 47 strikeouts.
  • Earned his first big league win on June 24 vs. Minnesota, allowing one run on four hits with a walk and nine strikeouts in 5.1 innings… became the 11th Tigers pitcher since 1901 to strike out nine-ormore batters in one of his first five Major League games (last, Tyler Alexander, July 27, 2019 at Seattle). • Made his Major League debut on June 2 at Chicago (AL), allowing two runs on two hits with one walk and six strikeouts in 5.0 innings… carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning until allowing a single to Romy Gonzalez…according to the Elias Sports Bureau, he became the first Tigers pitcher to throw at least 5.0 no-hit innings in his debut since Bill Slayback pitched 7.0 hitless innings on June 26, 1972 vs. New York (AL).
