MLS Preview: FC Cincinnati (15-2-6) at Columbus Crew SC (10-7-6)

FC Cincinnati defeated the Columbus Crew SC, 3-2, at hoe on May 20, its second MLS victory over its in-state rival (D4 L5). Columbus Crew SC has never lost at home against FC Cincinnati, winning the last three meetings at home by a combined score of 8-2.

The Columbus Crew SC are unbeaten in their last 10 home matches in all competitions (W7 D3, including a penalty shoot-out loss to Minnesota United FC). Dating back to early August 2022, the Columbus Crew SC has lost only one of its last 22 matches at Lower.com Field in all competitions (W14 D7).

FC Cincinnati’s 51 points through 23 matches is tied for the second-most at this stage of a season in MLS history (Los Angeles Football Club – 52 in 2019). If FC Cincinnati avoids defeat, it will become just the second time in league history to lose only two of its first 24 leagues matches of a season (FC Dallas – 2010).

Christian Ramirez has contributed to at least one goal in each f his last four home league matches (3 goals, 3 assists). Its the second time in his MLS career he’s been involved in a goal in four straight home games, also doing so with Minnesota United FC in 2017.

Luciano Acosta scored twice in FC Cincinnati’s win over the Columbus Crew SC on May 20, one of his six league games this year in which he’s been involved in multiple goals, tied with the Philadelphia Union’s Daniel Gazdag and Nashville SC’s Hany Mukhtar for the most such games in MLS this season.
