RECENT REDBIRDS: The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets play the third game of a four-game weekend series tonight at Busch Stadium … St. Louis is 2-4 on its seven-game homestand against the Oakland Athletics (2-1) and New York Mets (0-2), teams with lowest ($56.8 million) and highest ($330.6 million) Opening Day payrolls in MLB this season … After tomorrow’s game, the Cardinals embark on a seven-day, six-game Pennsylvania road trip through Pittsburgh (Mon.-Wed) and Philadelphia (Fri.-Sun).
