OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s have recalled left-handed pitcher Kyle Muller and optioned right-handed pitcher Spenser Watkins to Las Vegas, the club announced today.
Muller returns to the A’s for his third stint with the club this season. He was Oakland’s Opening Day starter and returns to a 1-4 record with a 7.79 ERA, 37 strikeouts, and 27 walks in 52.0 innings pitched in the Majors. In 13 games at the Triple-A level, he is 2-3 with a 7.26 ERA, 51 strikeouts, and 38 walks in 62.0 innings pitched.
Watkins made one appearance for Oakland before being optioned. He started yesterday’s game in St. Louis and allowed five earned runs on six hits and two walks in 4.1 innings pitched. At Triple-A this year he is 3-4 with a 8.35 ERA, 36 strikeouts, and 31 walks in 46.1 innings of work.
