Prior to today’s game, the Phillies placed left-handed pitcher José Alvarado on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to 7/7) with left elbow inflammation.  To take his spot on the 26-man roster, right-handed pitcher Andrew Bellatti was recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Alvarado, 28, has appeared in 26 games for the Phillies this season and has posted a 1.38 ERA (4 ER, 26.0 IP) with 39 strikeouts to nine walks.  The Phillies are 20-6 this season in the 26 games he has pitched (.769 winning percentage).

Originally signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as an amateur free agent on March 13, 2012, Alvarado was acquired by the Phillies in a three-team trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Dec. 29, 2020.  Alvarado was previously on the injured list this season from May 8-June 8 with left elbow inflammation.

Bellatti, 31, made 15 appearances for Lehigh Valley after being optioned on May 24.  He has posted a 1.20 ERA (2 ER, 15.0 IP) with 16 strikeouts to three walks and each of his last 12 appearances have been scoreless (12.0 IP, since 6/2).

He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round of the 2009 MLB draft and was signed by the Phillies as a minor league free agent on Nov. 19, 2021.
