MLS Preview: Austin FC (7-8-5) at Minnesota United FC (6-7-6)

Minnesota United FC and Austin FC have split their six all-time meetings with three wins apiece, with the home side winning the last three. Eight of the 11 goals over the six meetings were scored before halftime.

Minnesota United FC scored a season-high four goals in its 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers as the three-goal victory was its largest since a 3-0 win over the Chicago Fire in April last season. The Minnesota United Loons FC score two in each half, which was the club’s first time doing so since August 2020 against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Austin FC played to a 1-1 draw in a road game against Inter Miami FC on Saturday, the team’s fifth straight away match scoring at least once. Prior to its current streak, the club had failed to score in seven of their last eight road fixtures in all competitions dating back to last September.

Emanuel Reynoso notched the first multi-goal game by a Minnesota United FC player this season, coring twice in the win over the Portland Timbers. Reynoso now has five multi-goal games in the regular season for Minnesota United Loons FC, tying him with Kevin Molino for the most such games in the team’s MLS history.

Both of Gyasi Zardes’ MLS hat-tricks have come against Minnesota United FC, scoring three times against the Minnesota United Loons FC in October 2018 with the Columbus Crew SC and August 2022 with the Colorado Rapids. Zardes is one of seven players with multiple hat-tricks against a single MLS team while no one has done so three different ties.
