SPLASH DOWN WALKOFF STYLE: Last night Carlos Santana became the second different Pirate to hit a walkoff home run into the Allegheny River since PNC Park opened in 2001…In addition to Santana’s 431-foot blast last night, Garrett Jones also connected for walkoff home runs that landed in the river on both July 17, 2009 and August 16, 2011.

CARLOS SANTANA’S HITS: Carlos Santana has multiple hits in each of his last four games, going 10-for-18 (.556) with three doubles, three homers and six RBI (his first time to have multiple hits in four straight games since April 17-20, 2021)…Santana comes into today ranked fourth among all National League cleanup hitters with 39 RBI, trailing Pete Alonso (55), Christian Walker (54) and Nolan Arenado (47).

CASHING IN AT PNC: Pittsburgh has gone 14-4 at PNC Park in games decided by one or two runs this season…The Bucs have won seven straight games on the North Shore that have been decided by one or two runs since losing 3-2 against the Rangers on May 24.

HOIST THE COLORS: The Pirates have won twice in their last seven games when trailing after eight innings…Pittsburgh was 0-38 when trailing after eight innings before winning for the first time this season last Friday at Miami and again last night.

FUR YOUR INFORMATION: Andrew McCutchen has 13 hits over his last six games… According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that’s the most hits for McCutchen over any six-game span since having 14 from July 8-17, 2012.

SELECT COMPANY: Andrew McCutchen is just three home runs away from 300 in his career (his 297 are the 11th-most among active players)…McCutchen ranks fourth all-time in Pirates history with 213 home runs, trailing only Willie Stargell (475), Ralph Kiner (301) and Roberto Clemente (240).

PEN POWER: Pittsburgh’s bullpen allowed three unearned runs in 5.2 innings of work Friday night…Beginning with the action on June 23, Pittsburgh’s relievers have posted an 0.40 ERA (22.2ip/1er) in the team’s last seven games.

ABOUT TODAY’S STARTER: Johan Oviedo allowed just one run in 7.0 innings, but came away with a loss in his last start in the team’s 2-0 shutout Sunday at Miami…Oviedo has recorded eight quality starts this season, including four last month…The only Pirate with more quality starts this year is Mitch Keller, whose 11 are tied for the third-most in the National League…Oviedo also comes into today ranked eighth among all National League pitchers in fewest home runs allowed per 9.0 innings (0.71).

COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH: The Pirates are 19-for-47 (.404) with runners in scoring position in their last four games…The team’s seven RBI with RISP last night were the most since recording 11 against the Mets on June 9.

ON-BASE MACHINE: Andrew McCutchen has a team-high 19-game on-base streak coming into today…Since McCutchen’s streak began on June 5, his .476 on-base percentage ranks second in all of MLB behind Shohei Ohtani (.514)…This is also McCutchen’s longest streak since reaching in 24 straight games from April 18-May 14, 2018.

JOHAN OVIEDO: The 25-year-old righthander is making his 17th start…He lost a 2-0 decision (7.0ip/1r) in his last start Sunday at Miami.
