A’s claim RHP Angel Felipe off waivers from San Diego

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s claimed right-handed pitcher Angel Felipe off waivers from the San Diego Padres and assigned him to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced today.  To clear a spot on the 40-man roster, the A’s transferred right-handed pitcher Zach Jackson to the 60-day injured list.

Felipe has spent the entire season at Triple-A El Paso and is 0-2 with a save, a 6.20 ERA and .756 opponents OPS in 25 relief appearances.  He has struck out 39 batters in 24.2 innings (14.23 per nine innings) but has also walked 18 (6.57 per nine innings).  The 25-year-old right-hander was originally signed by Tampa Bay as an international free agent on June 15, 2015 and signed a minor league deal with the Padres on Jan. 4, 2022.  Felipe is 14-20 with 25 saves and a 4.71 ERA in 169 career appearances, including six starts, in seven seasons in the minors.  He has struck out 301 and walked 178 in 250.1 innings.
