CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have claimed right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians.
Toussaint, who turns 27 today, went 2-1 with a 4.06 ERA (17 ER/37.2 IP), 48 strikeouts (11.5 per 9.0 IP) and a .206 (27-131) opponents average over 20 games (one start) with Class AAA Columbus this season. He also made one start for the Guardians on June 16 at Arizona, allowing two runs on three hits with five walks and two strikeouts over 3.2 IP of a losing effort.
Toussaint, 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, is 10-8 with a 5.33 ERA (103 ER/174.0 IP), 109 walks and 183 strikeouts in 58 career games (24 starts) over parts of six MLB seasons with Atlanta (2018-21), Los Angeles-AL (2022) and Cleveland (2023).
Toussaint originally was selected by Arizona in the first round (16th overall) of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Coral Springs (Fla.) Christian Academy.
