COLORADO ROCKIES NOTES:
A LONG ROAD
- The Colorado Rockies continue their 10-game road trip tonight with game two of three in Cincinnati … this is the first of two 10-game road trips for the Rockies this season (also: Aug. 4-13).
- The Rockies suffered their seventh sweep of the season in Atlanta, their fifth on the road and their second in a four-game set (also: May 29-June 1 at Arizona) … marked their first time getting swept in Atlanta since July 29-Aug. 1, 2013 … since taking the first two games of the road trip at Fenway Park, the Rockies have lost six in a row, their third losing streak of equal games or more … have lost 12 of their last 15 overall.
- The Rockies are in a stretch of 16-straight days with a game, and 33 games in 34 day overall from May 19-June 21 … are 10-21 through the first 31 games of this stretch.
BIG MAC
- 3B Ryan McMahon extended his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games last night … is slashing .381/.480/.690 with two doubles, one triple, three home runs and six RBI over the streak … third-longest active hitting streak in the Majors.
- Recorded the ninth multi-home run game of his career Sunday, his second on the road and his first since Sept. 8, 2022 vs. Arizona … his nine multi-home run games are the 12th most in franchise history, surpassing Ellis Burks with eight.
- McMahon has reached base in 24 of his last 26 with 12 multi-hit games since May 23 … is slashing .370/.457/.720 (37-for-100) with seven doubles, two triple, eight home runs, 23 RBI and 15 walks over that span … since May 23, is second in the Majors in OBP and OPS (1.177), ranks third in batting and slugging and is tied for fifth in extra-base hits.
- On the season, McMahon’s 35 extra-base hits are tied for fifth-most in the NL, his 20 doubles are also tied for the fifth-most and his .517 slugging mark is 13th.
- McMahon’s 2.7 WAR (Baseball Reference) leads all players with at least 50% of their games at third base this season … his 10 defensive runs saved are most among third basemen (Sports Info Solutions).
THIS ‘N THAT
- The Rockies have allowed 15 home runs over their last five road games, the most ever in club history through five games on the same road trip … two other teams have allowed 15+ home runs over a span of five road games this season: Oakland (17, April 7-11) and Tampa Bay (15, May 12-17).
- The Rockies .321 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) is the second-highest in the Majors behind the Rangers (.324).
- SS Ezequiel Tovar’s 15 doubles since April 26 are tied for the seventh-most in the Majors … his 19 doubles on the season are tied for the ninth-most in the NL.
- OF Brenton Doyle swiped his 10th base of the season Thursday in Atlanta, six more than any other Rockie … he became the first Rockie in history to begin his career with 10 steals within his first 39 games with a plate appearance (44 games overall).
MR. JONES
- INF/OF Nolan Jones has reached base safely in a career-long 13 games, tied for the longest active streak in the National League and tied for fourth-longest in the Majors.
- Since his recall from Triple-A on May 26, Nolan Jones is slashing .321/.404/.551 with six doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI and four stolen bases while recording a hit in 17 of 22 games … ranks 13th in the NL in batting and 16th in slugging through this span.
- The 25-year-old’s walk-off home run June 11 vs. San Diego was the first of his career, and the first walk-off home run by a Rockie since Elias Díaz on Sept. 9, 2022 … measured at 472 feet, it’s the longest walk-off home run in baseball in the Statcast Era (since 2015) and the eighth-longest overall in the Majors this season.
- Jones also hit a 483-foot home run on June 7, the second-longest home run in the Majors this season … is the only player in the Majors with two of the 10 longest home runs in baseball this season.
BABY GOT BACKSTOP
- Catcher Elias Díaz is batting .291, the ninth-highest average in the Majors and the highest among all MLB catchers … his .336 (36-for-107) average at home is the seventh-highest in the Majors while his .348 (23-for66) average with runners in scoring position is the eighth-highest in the NL.
- Has appeared in 60 games at catcher, the second-most in the Majors … his 12 catcher caught stealing are
third-most in the Majors.
D-FENCE
- Ryan McMahon’s 1.2 defensive WAR is tied for eighth-best in baseball, fourth-best in the NL (Baseball Reference) … Elias Díaz ranks seventh in the NL with a 1.1 dWAR, the second-highest among catchers.
- Brenton Doyle’s outfield assist June 13 at Boston was recorded at 99.2 miles per hours via Statcast, the third-fastest throw on an outfield assist in the Majors this season … Doyle has three of the top six fastest throws among all outfields assists in MLB in 2023 … his four total outfield assists are tied for the third-most among Major League rookies.
ROCKIES STARTING PITCHER – #63 NOAH DAVIS RHP
FIRST THINGS FIRST
- Twenty-five-year-old Noah Davis makes the fourth Major League start of the season and his career … will be his fifth Major League appearance.
- as first recalled in 2023 from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 16 for Germán Márquez, who was placed on the injured list with right forearm inflammation.
- The Newport Beach, Calif. native was acquired by the Rockies along with RHP Case Williams in a trade with Cincinnati in exchange for RHP Mychal Givens on July 28, 2021.
- Originally selected by the Reds in the 11th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of UC Santa Barbara … had his contract selected by the Rockies on Nov. 19, 2021 as protection from the Rule 5 draft.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS
- Was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 30 with right elbow inflammation was removed from the IL on June 1 and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.
- Made four starts for the Isotopes after being removed from the injured list, going 0-2 with an 8.31 ERA (13.0 IP, 12 ER) over that span with opponents slashing .309/.375/.636 for a 1.011 OPS.
THERES A SNAKE IN MY BOOT
- In his last Major League start prior to his IL stint, allowed a career-high seven runs on seven hits over a career-low two-inning start.
- The outing caused his ERA to rise from 0.93 (9.2 IP, 1 ER) to 6.17 (11.2 IP, 8 ER).
GOOD START
- Prior to his outing on April 29, his 0.93 ERA (9.2 IP, 1 ER) was the lowest in all of baseball among rookies with at least two starts … was one of five rookies with at least two starts to not allow a home run on the season
- Was the only Rockie ever to not allow an extra-base hit through his first two career starts.
- His 0.93 ERA was the lowest in Rockies history in a player’s first two career starts, surpassing Ryan Castellani’s 1.04 ERA (8.2 IP, 1 ER) in 2020.
KEEP DOING THAT
- In his start on Friday, April 21 in Philadelphia, allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits over 4.2 innings, striking out five and walking none … did not factor into the decision in the Rockies 4-3 loss to the Phillies.
- Made his first career Major League start last April 16 in Seattle and tossed five scoreless innings with three hits allowed, three walks and five strikeouts … did not factor into the decision in the 1-0 Rockies loss.
- Became the first Rockies pitcher since Antonio Senzatela (April 6, 2017 at Milwaukee) to toss five scoreless innings in his first Major League
start.

- The Reds today returned from a rehabilitation assignment, reinstated from the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment OF Wil Myers (kidney stone, left shoulder sprain).

- SS Matt McLain ranks fourth and 2B Jonathan India is 10th in updated All-Star Game voting…Phase 1 of the voting ends at noon ET Thursday.
- The Top 2 at each infield position (and top 6 outfielders) in each league will be revealed at 6:00 p.m. Thursday on MLB Network and will advance to the second phase of voting to determine the starters.
- Phase 2 begins at noon Monday and ends at noon Thursday, 6/29.
