Left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki had his contract selected from Triple-A Indianapolis and will be active for today’s game.
The 29-year-old Borucki (pronounced bohr-RUCK-ee) made eight scoreless appearances (8.1ip/3h/6bb/4so) with Indianapolis after signing a minor league contract with the Pirates on May 9.
Borucki began the 2023 season with Triple-A Iowa before having his contract selected by the Cubs on April 30. He was designated for assignment on May 2 without appearing in a game for Chicago.
Borucki has made each of his last 77 appearances in the big leagues in relief since making a combined 19 starts in 2018-19 with Toronto. He has gone 6-2 with a 4.66 ERA (65.2ip/34er) in his 77 appearances in relief, including a combined 32 during the 2022 season between Toronto and Seattle.
Borucki will wear uniform No. 43.
