Prior to tonight’s game against the Oakland Athletics, the Phillies recalled outfielder Cristian Pache from his rehab assignment with triple-A Lehigh Valley and reinstated him from the 10-day injured list (right knee meniscus tear). To make room for Pache on the 26-man roster, outfielder Dalton Guthrie was optioned to Lehigh Valley following yesterday’s game.

Phillies President of Baseball Operations David Dombrowski made the announcement.

Pache, 24, made nine starts (6 in CF, 3 in LF) and hit .360 (9-25) with three doubles, one home run and four RBI in 18 games with the Phillies prior to being placed on the IL, April 29. While rehabbing with single-A Jersey Shore and Lehigh Valley, he tallied three hits (2 extra-base hits) and five walks in 30 plate appearances across two games as designated hitter and five games in center field.

The Dominican Republic native was acquired from the Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan on March 29.

Guthrie, 27, has set single-season career highs in games (23) and runs scored (4) over two stints with the club, surpassing his totals of 14 and three, respectively, from 2022. He originally made the Phillies Opening Day roster before beginning his season with the IronPigs.

Guthrie was selected by the Phillies in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
