White Sox place Yoán Moncada on injured list; select the contract of Zach Remillard from Class AAA Charlotte

LOS ANGELES – Prior to tonight’s series finale at the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Chicago White Sox placed third baseman Yoán Moncada on the 10-day injured (retroactive to June 14) with lower back inflammation and selected the contract of infielder Zach Remillard from Class AAA Charlotte.

Remillard is hitting .236 (50-212) with 10 doubles, five home runs, 25 RBI, 33 walks, 41 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 59 games with Charlotte this season. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Remillard has appeared in 18 games at first base, 16 at third, 11 at shortstop, six each at second and in left field, three at DH, two in right and one in left. He has no prior major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 28.

Remillard recorded career-highs in on-base percentage (.373), runs scored (83), RBI (52), walks (57) and stolen bases (19) in 2022, his first full season with the Knights. He is a career .253/.326/.378 (609-2,411) hitter with 110 doubles, 11 triples, 57 home runs, 268 RBI, 71 stolen bases and 377 runs scored in 694 games over seven seasons (2016-23) in the White Sox minor-league system. Remillard originally was selected by the Sox in the 10th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Coastal Carolina (S.C.) University.

Moncada is hitting .232/.279/.370 (32-138) with eight doubles, three home runs, 13 RBI and 17 runs scored in 38 games this season.

Following the moves, Chicago’s 40-man roster increases to 39.
