The Philadelphia Union and Charlotte FC each recorded a home win over the other in 2022, with the Philadelphia Union winning, 2-0, at home in April and Charlotte FC recording a 4-0 home win in October. The Philadelphia Union have scored three times in each of their last two matches and now have 12 regular season games with at least three goals since last July, three more than any other team in that time.
Charlotte FC has won consecutive MLS road matches for the first time in club history following a 1-0 win at the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday. Charlotte FC has collected 10 points in its seven road matches this season (W3 D 1 L3), one fewer than it managed in all 17 away games last season (11 – W3 D2 L12).
Julian Carranza (2 goals) and Daniel Gazdag scored the Philadelphia Union’s three goals in their 3-1 win at New York City FC on Saturday. Gazdag (29 goals) and Carranza (21 goals) are the only pair of MLS teammates with 20 goals apiece since the start of last season.
Karol Swiderski scored the game’s only goal in Charlotte FC’s win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday, his team-high 14 MLS goal. It was the 11th goal Swiderski has scored with his left foot, only Los Angeles Football Club’s Carlos Vela (15) has more left-footed goals since Swiderski joined MLS last year.
