MLS Preview: CF Montreal Impact (5-6-0) at FC Cincinnati (7-1-3)

The CF Montreal Impact have won three of its last four meetings with FC Cincinnati (D1) after FC Cincinnati won the first three matches between the sides. Each of the last two meetings have ended 4-3 to CF Montreal while no match in league history has featured seven or more has featured seven or more goals in three straight meetings.

FC Cincinnati has won all six of its home matches this season, winning each match by a one-goal margin, the first team in MLS history to record such a streak. Only five teams in MLS history have won their first seven home games of a season, most recently the Philadelphia Union (all 9) in 2020.

The CF Montreal Impact have won six straight matches in all competitions for the first time in the club’s MLS era (since 2012). CF Montreal has scored two goals in each of the six wins after failing to find the net in six of its previous seven games.

Alvaro Barreal has contributed to a goal in each of his last five appearances in all competitions for FC Cincinnati (1 goal, 4 assists), including each of the last three MLS matches. Six of Barreal’s seven goal contributions in all competitions this season have come at TQL Stadium(1 goal, 5 assists).

CF Montreal Impact held Toronto FC to just two shots in its win on Saturday with neither hitting the target. It marked just the second time in club history that CF Montreal held an opponent to two or fewer attempts with none hitting the target, also doing so against New York City FC last July.
