Both Charlotte FC and the Chicago Fire came from behind to record away wins against each other last season. Chicago trailed 1-0 after 25 seconds before coming back to record a 3-2 win at Charlotte FC last August while Charlotte FC overcame a 2-0 deficit to beat the Chicago Fire, 3-2, at Soldier Field last September.
Charlotte FC has won three straight matches in all competitions for the second time in club history after a three-match winning run last September-October. Charlotte FC has also equaled its longest home winning streak in all competitions, having won its last four home matches.
The Chicago Fire have lost only two of their last 11 matches in all competitions (W5 D4), including winning the last two in a row, both over St. Louis City SC. Chicago has won three straight in all competitions just once since the start of the 2018 season, doing so last July.
Justin Meram scored his first two goals for Charlotte FC in its win over Atlanta United FC on Saturday. Meram has scored in each of the last 12 MLS seasons beginning in 2012, the third-longest active streak in MLS behind only C. J. Sapong and Will Bruin (13 straight).
Rafael Czichos came on as a substitute at 34’and scored at 40′ in the Chicago Fire’s victory over St. Louis City SC on Saturday. Czichos is the first player in MLS since Dom Dwyer in February 2022 to score a first-half goal as a sub and the second Fire player to do so in the club’s MLS history after Nate Jaqua in July 2006.
