CINCINNATI – Prior to today’s series finale at Cincinnati, the Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Eloy Jiménez on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 6) due to an appendectomy and recalled catcher Carlos Pérez from Class AAA Charlotte.
Jiménez underwent surgery yesterday at Cincinnati’s Good Samaritan Hospital, and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He is hitting .258/.321/.423 (25-97) with four doubles, four home runs, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored in 25 games this season.
Pérez is batting .272/.321/.553 (28-103) with five doubles, eight homers, 18 RBI, eight walks and an .874 OPS in 27 games with Charlotte this season. He is tied for 10th in the International League in home runs. Pérez appeared in eight games with the White Sox last season, including his major-league debut on August 26 vs. Arizona. He went 4-18 (.222) with two doubles and two RBI in 2022.
