The Arizona Diamondbacks made the following roster moves:
Selected RHP Brandon Pfaadt [FOUGHT] (No. 32) from Triple-A Reno.
- The 24-year-old will make his Major League debut.
- Went 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA (11 ER in 25.1 IP), 30 strikeouts and 1.18 WHIP in 5 starts for the Aces this season…has recorded 5+ strikeouts in each start.
- At the time of his promotion, ranked among Pacific Coast League leaders in strikeouts (T-1st), WHIP (2nd), ERA (5th), win percentage (5th, .667), opponent average (T-5th, .245) and innings pitched (10th).
- Entered the season rated as the D-backs’ No. 4 prospect by The Athletic and MLB Pipeline and No. 5 by Baseball America.
- Over 3 Minor League seasons, he went 21-15 with a 3.58 ERA, 408 strikeouts, 1.10 WHIP and .235 opponent average in 56 starts.
- Was named the D-backs’ 2022 Minor League Pitcher of the Year after going 11-7 with a 3.83 ERA (71 ER in 167.0 IP) and 218 strikeouts over 29 starts.
- In 2022, was the first Minor League pitcher to reach the 200-strikeout milestone since 2011, while his 218 strikeouts were the most since Brandon Claussen/NYY in 2001 (220).
- Selected by Arizona in the fifth round of the 2020 draft out of Bellarmine University.
