Prior to today’s game, the Phillies placed outfielder Cristian Pache on the 10-day injured list with a right knee meniscus tear. To fill his spot on the 26-man roster, outfielder Dalton Guthrie was recalled from triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Pache, 24, sustained the injury in last night’s win against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. Over 18 games this season, the Dominican Republic native has hit .360 (9-25) with three doubles, one home run and four runs batted in. Defensively, Pache has made nine starts for the Phillies, six in center field and three in right field.
Pache was acquired via trade with the Oakland Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Billy Sullivan on March 29.
Guthrie, 27, made the Phillies Opening Day roster but began his season with the IronPigs, where he was slashing .278/.380/.481 with 10 runs scored over 21 games. Ten of his 22 hits this season have gone for extra bases (6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs). Defensively, Guthrie has made 11 starts for Lehigh Valley in center field, nine in right field and one at second base.
A native of Sarasota, Fla., Guthrie made his major league debut with the Phillies in 2022. He appeared in 14 regular season games for the club and was on the roster for the National League Division Series against Atlanta and the National League Championship Series against San Diego. Guthrie was selected by the Phillies in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
