Player Notes: – William Nylander recorded three points in Toronto’s win (1G, 2A). With two assists, Nylander improved to 47 assists this season setting a new career-high in assists. Nylander posted his 23rd multi-point game of the season and his seventh game of the season with three or more points.

  • Luke Schenn scored for Toronto at 16:01 of the first period. Schenn scored his first goal with the Maple Leafs since being reacquired by the team via trade from Vancouver on Feb. 28, 2023. Per NHL Stats, “Schenn scored his first goal with the Maple Leafs since Feb. 4, 2012 (11 years, 66 days ago). It marked the second-longest span by a player between goals with Toronto (regular season or playoffs), behind Steve Thomas (11 years, 176 days between Game 2 of 1987 DF & Oct. 16, 1998).”
  • Calle Järnkrok reached the 20-goal mark for the first time in his NHL career. Järnkrok also recorded the secondary assist on Nylander’s power play goal. With his 19th assist of the season, Järnkrok tied a career-high in assists which he has marked on two occasions during his NHL career (2017-18, 2019-20). Järnkrok posted his fifth multi-point game of the season.
  • Ryan O’Reilly scored the game-winning goal for Toronto at 12:33 of the third period and posted the primary assist on Nylander’s power play goal. With his assist, O’Reilly posted the 700th point of his NHL career. O’Reilly recorded his sixth multi-point game of the season.
  • Noel Acciari posted the primary assist on Schenn’s goal. Acciari posted his first assist as a Maple Leaf and his ninth assist of the season, setting a new career-high in assists.
  • John Tavares posted the primary assist on Järnkrok’s goal. With the assist, Tavares posted his 80th point of the season (36G, 44A). Tavares reached the 80-point mark for the fifth occasion of his NHL career.
  • Matthew Knies posted the primary assist on O’Reilly’s goal, recording the first point of his NHL career.
  • Morgan Rielly skated in his 718th career NHL game on Tuesday, claiming sole possession of fifth on Toronto’s all-time leader board in games played by a defenceman and 14th among all-time franchise leaders.
  • Joseph Woll stopped 45 of 48 shots he faced in Tuesday’s win. Woll set a single-game NHL career-high in both saves and shots faced. Woll has won five-consecutive starts. Per NHL Stats, “Woll became the third Maple Leafs rookie goaltender in the last 30 years with a run of that length. The others are Jonas Gustavsson (7 GP in 2009-10) and Damian Rhodes (5 GP in 1993-94).”

Team Notes – With the Maple Leafs’ 49th win of the season on Tuesday, the team tied for the second-most wins in franchise history. Toronto also tied for fourth all-time with their 22nd road win of the season. The current franchise record for most road wins in a single-season is 23 which has been set on three occasions in franchise history (2003-04, 2018-19, 2021-22).

TONIGHT’S STORYLINES
The Maple Leafs will conclude their 2022-23 regular season schedule with the team’s third and final matchup against the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden. Toronto has posted a 1-1-0 record against the Rangers this season. The Maple Leafs are concluding a three-game road trip where the team has posted a 2-0-0 record. The club has earned at least one point through their last five games played (4-0-1) while earning a 5-1-1 record through the month of April. With the Ottawa Senators 5-2 win against the Florida Panthers on Monday, March 27th, the Maple Leafs clinched a playoff spot for the seventh-straight season. Earning a playoff spot in seven-consecutive seasons is the fourth-longest streak in franchise history. Toronto earned their spot in the playoffs for the 72nd time in franchise history. The Maple Leafs were the fourth team to clinch a playoff spot for the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs following Boston, Carolina and New Jersey. RANGERS RUNDOWN

  • The New York Rangers end their regular season with a Thursday night affair with the Toronto Maple Leafs (7:00 PM ET – TV: MSG Network – Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM).
  • The Blueshirts have clinched a spot in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the 62nd time in team history they have made the postseason. New York’s 14 playoff appearances since the 2005-06 season are tied for the second most in the NHL.
  • The Rangers have reached the 100-point plateau for a second consecutive year and 12th time in team history. The Blueshirts’ 107 points are the seventh most in franchise history while their 47 wins are tied for the ninth most. With a win, their 109 points would tie the fourth most in team history.
  • New York has points six-straight contests (3-0-3), 16 of its last 18 games (12-2-4). Since March 9, the Rangers’ two regulation losses are tied for the second fewest in the NHL behind Edmonton (1).
  • With a point tonight, the Rangers would finish a season with point streak of six-plus games for the first time in franchise history. Only three times before has the team closed out a regular season with points in four or more consecutive games (2007-08, 1967-68, 1935-36).
