THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
• Tonight’s matchup is the final time Seattle will play against Vancouver this season. A win tonight would give the Kraken consecutive wins against the Canucks for the first time in franchise history.
• Yesterday’s game against the Coyotes and tonight’s game against the Canucks is the seventh of eight back-to-back sets the team will play this season and the third of which where the set is a home and road split.
• Seattle has an 12-9-2 record against Pacific Division opponents this season and have beaten each of their division rivals at least once.
• The Kraken have scored a power-play goal in each of their last three games. If there were to do so again tonight, it would give them power-play goals in four consecutive games for the first time since they opened the 2022-23 season with a power-play goal their first four games.
• Seattle has seven players on its roster that have appeared in all 76 of the team’s games: Oliver Bjorkstrand, Will Borgen, Vince Dunn, Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde, Adam Larsson and Brandon Tanev. Only three other teams (Calgary [8], Dallas [8], NY Rangers [7]) have had as many or more players appear in each of their games this season.
• Vince Dunn, who has already set a career high with 63 points (13 goals, 50 assists) this season, enters tonight’s game as the Kraken’s leading scorer. He is ranked in the top 15 among all NHL defensemen in goals (tied 10th), assists (tied ninth), points (10th), even-strength goals (13, tied second) and even-strength points (48, second).
• Jared McCann has recorded 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists) in 30 games dating back to Jan. 25. His 31 points during that span are leading all Kraken skaters.
• With the Kraken’s four-goal outing in their game on March 3 against Columbus, they surpassed their goal total from all of last season in 20 fewer games. Seattle has scored 267 goals in 76 games this season compared to 213 goals in 2021-22. The team’s 267 goals this season are ranked fifth in the NHL entering.
• Jordan Eberle’s goal in the Kraken’s game on March 3 at Columbus was his 50th point of the season. It is the sixth time in his career and first time since 2017-18 that Eberle has recorded 50 or more points in a season.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Kraken defeated the Arizona Coyotes 8-1 in their first matchup of the season. The 8-1 win marks the largest margin of victory in franchise history, with the next highest being a five-point margin reached on three occasions.
• With the win, the Kraken surpassed the Oakland Seals for the highest wins differential by an NHL franchise from its inaugural season to its second campaign according to NHL Stats.
• Yesterday was Seattle’s fifth eight-plus goal game, which leads the league. The only other teams to do so are Buffalo, Los Angeles and Washington (all twice).
• Monday’s contest marked Jared McCann’s 500th NHL game, becoming the 10th skater from his draft class (2014) to reach the milestone. With two goals, McCann became the 40th skater in NHL history to post a multi-goal effort in his 500th NHL game according to NHL Stats.
• With his first-period goal, Jordan Eberle earned his 100th point as a Kraken, joining McCann as the second player in franchise history to reach 100 points. This is his 16th goal and 56th point of the season.
o According to NHL Stats, this is Eberle’s eighth game-opening goal with the Kraken, behind McCann with 11.
• Vince Dunn notched two assists to bring his career total to 200 points. He is the 22nd skater and fifth defenseman from the 2015 NHL draft class to record 200 NHL points.
• Justin Schultz (six goals, 25 assists) reached his 30-point milestone tonight for the fourth time in his career with two assists in yesterday’s game. 13 Kraken skaters have now hit the milestone this season (last year only six skaters reached the mark).
• Will Borgen (three) and Morgan Geekie (eight) both set career highs in goals when they scored in yesterday’s game.
SEATTLE SHOWDOWN
• Tonight’s game is the fourth of seven times this season that the Kraken will be playing the same day as the Mariners. Since the start of last season, the Kraken have played on the same day as the Mariners 13 times, owning a 4-8-0 record in those games.
• The Kraken and Mariners have won on the same day twice. The Kraken defeated the Colorado Avalanche 3-2 on April 20, 2022, the same day the Mariners topped the Texas Rangers 4-2. The Kraken then won their game on March 30, a 4-1 victory over the Ducks, overlapping with the Mariners’ 3-0 opening-day win over the Cleveland Guardians.
• After tonight, the Kraken and Mariners will play on the same day three more times during the regular season this year: On April 8, 10 and 11.
• The Kraken have yet to play opponents from the same city on the same day.
