FLAMES LAST GAME RECAP
March 28, 2023 – CALGARY FLAMES [2] vs. LOS ANGELES KINGS [1]
The Calgary Flames welcomed the Los Angeles Kings to the Scotiabank Saddledome for their fourth and final meeting on Tuesday night. Calgary jumped out in front courtesy of Andrew Mangiapane who scored his 15th of the season just 1:54 into the contest to give the Flames a 1-0 lead. Rasmus Andersson would pot what he thought would be his 12th on the year, but the goal was called back following a coaches challenge. Shortly after, Sean Durzi would find the back of the net for the eighth time of the year to tie the game at ones. In the ladder stages of the frame, Walker Duehr would make it goals in back-to-back games to restore the Flames lead. From then on Jacob Markstrom stole the show for Calgary, turning aside all 20 shots he faced through the second and third periods and earned first Star Honors in a 2-1 Flames victory.

The Flames and Canucks get set to face for the first time in Vancouver this season, and first of two times over the next two weeks. The clubs have squared off two times this season, with both prior contests coming at the Scotiabank Saddledome in the month of December. Meeting number one saw the Flames erase an early 2-0 deficit with three unanswered goals from Mikael Backlund, Andrew Mangiapane, and Trevor Lewis to take a 3-2 lead. Vancouver would tie things up in the second, and the game would eventually go to a shootout where Vancouver claimed the extra point. Their second meeting came on New Years Eve which saw Elias Lindholm skate in his 700th NHL game and score, along with Blake Coleman and MacKenzie Weegar’s first as a Flame in a 3-2 victory.

QUICK HITS:
Andrew Mangiapane scored his first power play goal and his 15th of the season on Tuesday against Los Angeles with Elias Lindholm picking up an assist on the play. Lindholm now has 42 helpers, which is the second-most he’s recorded in a single season (51 in 2018-19). Walker Duehr made it goals in back-to-back games on Tuesday and his tally held-up as the game winner, which was the first of his NHL career. Jacob Markstrom stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced against the Kings to record wins in back-to-back starts.
