RECAP/NOTES: The Rangers struck first on Tuesday night but fell to the Hurricanes 3-2 after three third period goals by Carolina. Prior to Carolina tying the game at 1-1, New York had scored 16 unanswered goals. The Rangers became the first team to collect 16 or more unanswered goals since the Penguins scored 18 in a row across four games from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4, 2014. Tyler Motte scored his third goal in his last four games and fourth goal in 13 games with the Rangers.

RANGERS RUNDOWN

  • The New York Rangers visit Carolina to finish off the regular season series against the Hurricanes (7:00 PM ET – TV: MSGSN – Radio: ESPN 1050 AM). After tonight, the Blueshirts will have 10 more games in the regular season.

— Vincent Trocheck was acquired by Carolina from FLA in exchange for Erik Haula, Eetu Luostarinen, Chase Priskie and Lucas Wallmark on 2/24/20 and skated in 135 games with the Hurricanes from 2020-22, tallying 96 points (39g, 57a).

— Jack Drury is the nephew of Rangers President, General Manager and Alternate Governor Chris Drury. Jack was also born in New York City on 2/3/00 while his father, Ted, was playing for the Islanders.
