On Thursday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Duke Wells Center, Henderson State will attempt to sweep Southeastern Oklahoma State to complete the season sweep.
Reddies Report Henderson defeated the Tigers 82-72 in the second Battle of the Ravine to exact revenge on Ouachita Baptist. With 30 points and six rebounds, the Reddies’ Ashley Farrar led the way.
Henderson has now secured a spot in the GAC Tournament following its 11th league victory over OUA. One of the four teams that have already qualified for the tournament is HSU. Harding, Arkansas Tech, and Southern Nazarene are the other three teams.
The Reddies’ bench player of choice in the last six games has been JJ Eddens. The native of Luther, Oklahoma, went 5-8 and scored 11 points in 21 minutes of action against Ouachita Baptist. Eddens has been shooting 53.1% from the field and scoring 6.2 points per game over the last six games.
The Reddies found their range from deep against OUA after struggling from the three-point line against Northwestern Oklahoma State. Henderson had multiple players with three treys and shot 11-20 from beyond the arc. Farrar started 0-3 from beyond the arc but then hit three triples in a row, while Abbie Jiles shot 3-3 from deep. Sonni Martin finished with a record of 3-4 and scored twice in the fourth period with treys.
HSU has a 15-12 head-to-head advantage over Southeastern Oklahoma State after winning the last three games against them. In the first encounter, Henderson defeated SE 61-52 in the Bloomer Sullivan Arena, defeating the Savage Storm. In the victory, Farrar recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
SCOUTING SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE Prior to their 60-47 loss to East Central in their most recent matchup, the Savage Storm had won three games in a row. With a conference record of 5-13 and an overall record of 7-16, Southeastern Oklahoma State is last in the GAC standings.
Caitlin Kobiske led SE during the three-game winning streak. For her performance against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello, she was named GAC Player of the Week and D2 National Player of the Week. In the two games, Kobiske shot 71.4 percent from the floor and scored 81 points. The native of Keller, Texas, leads SE in scoring with an average of 16.8 points per game.
Briley Moon, SE’s second-leading scorer with 15.3 points per game, is SE’s top three-point shooter with 44 triples this season, shooting 38.9% from beyond the arc.
