GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
January 24 – Vegas Golden Knights 2, New Jersey Devils 3 OT
The Vegas Golden Knights (29-17-3) were defeated by the New Jersey Devils (31-12-4), 3-2, in overtime on Tuesday night at Prudential Center. Ondrej Palat got the socring started less than four minutes into the game. In the second, Ben Hutton and William Karlsson scored 2:51 apart to give the Golden Knights a 2-1 edge. Dougie Hamilton scored with 1:10 to go in regulation and added the overtime winner at 3:54 to give New Jersey the 3-2 victory.

LAST GAME BY THE NUMBERS

  • Hutton’s goal was his second of the season
  • Karlsson’s goal was his eighth point in 10 games (4-4—8)

Against the Rangers
Vegas’ contest with New York on Friday is the second of two meetings this season. The Golden Knights own a 6-3-0 record against the Rangers and have only lost once at Madison Square Garden. Vegas’ one loss at New York came in the first ever meeting between the clubs on Oct. 31, 2017. In their most recent meeting on Dec. 7, 2022, the Golden Knights suffered a 5-1 loss, with the lone goal scored by Jonathan Marchessault. Marchessault has three goals in his last two games against the Rangers as well as the game-deciding goal in a shootout win the last time Vegas played at MSG.

RECAP/NOTES: On Wednesday night in Toronto, the Rangers fell to the Maple Leafs in overtime, 3-2. New York extended its road point streak to six-straight games (3-0-3). Toronto native Will Cuylle made his NHL debut in the overtime loss, becoming the second Toronto native to make his NHL debut in the city while playing for the Rangers (Jim Drummond on Jan. 9, 1945).

RANGERS RUNDOWN

  • The New York Rangers play their final game ahead of the All-Star Break when the Vegas Golden Knights come to Madison Square Garden (7:00 PM ET – TV: MSG Network – Radio: ESPN 98.7 FM). For the last time this season, the Rangers will wear their reverse retro jerseys tonight.
