Trailing by as many as five goals in the second period, the Stars nearly pulled off the comeback but fell short in a 6-5 defeat to the Calgary Flames. Dallas scored the game’s final four goals, including three in the third period. Joe Pavelski recorded a game-high three points (2-1—3), with both of his goals coming in less than a six-minute span. Jason Robertson (0-2—2) recorded his 19th multi-point game of the season with two assists on Saturday. He became the fourth player this season to reach the 60-point benchmark (29-31—60 in 44 GP) and the fastest Stars player to 60 points in a season since the team relocated to Dallas (1993). Captain Jamie Benn (1-0—1) recorded his 14th career shorthanded goal to give the Stars six shorties through 44 games this season (Roope Hintz x2, Radek Faksa, Luke Glendening, Joel Kiviranta and Benn all with 1), one shy of their season high in 2021-22. Forward Tyler Seguin (1-1—2) extended his point streak to three consecutive games (2-2—4), defenseman Miro Heiskanen (0-2—2) recorded his 10th multi-point game of the 2022-23 campaign with two helpers, and blueliner Colin Miller (1-0—1) picked up his third goal of the season in 19:57 TOI. Goaltender Scott Wedgewood made 30 saves on 36 shots in his 13th start of the season.

DALLAS STARS NOTES
TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars hit the road for three games beginning tonight against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena (5 p.m. CT, TV: Bally Sports Southwest, Radio: 570 AM KLIF). This is the first of three meetings between the Stars and Golden Knights and one of two in Sin City. These clubs will meet again in Las Vegas on Feb. 25 before closing out the three-game set in Dallas on April 8. Following tonight’s game, the Stars will face the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday and LA Kings on Thursday.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS LAST GAME RECAP
January 14 – Vegas Golden Knights 3, Edmonton Oilers 4
The Vegas Golden Knights (28-14-2) stumbled in a 4-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers (24-18-3) on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. Edmonton got out to a perfect start as Mattias Janmark and Leon Draisaitl each scored in the first two minutes to give the Oilers an early 2-0 lead. Keegan Kolesar got one back for the home team as Vegas went into the break trailing by a goal. After Draisaitl potted his second of the night, and Paul Cotter buried a rebound to make it a 3-2 game. Klim Kostin answered for Edmonton, but William Karlsson’s goal in the final minute of the period brought the score to 4-3 through 40 minutes. The Golden Knights couldn’t solve Jack Campbell in the third period as the Oilers skated away with the 4-3 victory.

The Golden Knights are 8-2-1 all time against the Stars and 3-1-0 when at home. The last time these two teams met, Vegas suffered a shootout loss despite seeing goals from William Carrier and Chandler Stephenson.
