WBB-FBS: Nevada Wolfpack (4-8) at San Diego State Aztecs (11-3)

SAN DIEGO – Nevada women’s basketball begins the 2023 new year on the road at San Diego State on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Larry Burnett will have the call on 94.1 FM and 1450 AM, with a 20 minute pregame show prior to tipoff. Fans can also listen live online through the Varsity Network. The game will be available to watch on the Mountain West Network and live stats can be accessed through Stat Broadcast.

Nevada is undefeated this season when it holds its opponents to under 60 points. The Pack are coming off holding San Jose State to 47 points on Dec. 29, the lowest point total by a Nevada opponent in a conference opener since the Pack joined a conference in the NCAA Era.

Lexie Givens, Alyssa Jimenez, Megan Ormiston and Victoria Davis have contributed heavily in multiple categories recently for the Pack. Givens produced back-to-back double-doubles for points and rebounds in the 2022 Nugget Classic on Nov. 25 and 27, earning All-Tournament team honors in the process. She was the first Nevada player since Terae Briggs in 2018 to post a double-double in back-to-back games.

Davis and Jimenez came up with double digit numbers in points and rebounds against Idaho on Dec. 3, becoming the first Nevada duo to collect a double-double in the same game since 2019. Ormiston picked up her first collegiate double-double (26 points, 11 rebounds) on Dec. 11 against Santa Clara, posting career-highs in both categories. Jimenez most recently added her second career double-double on Dec. 29 against San Jose State (14 points, 10 rebounds).

Nevada has had one fourth of its 2022-23 roster register at least one career 20-point outing. Most recently, graduate student Megan Ormiston has scored over 20 points in two out of her last four outings. She registered a career-high 26 points on Dec. 11 against Santa Clara and dropped 21 points in the Pack’s next game on Dec. 17 against Oregon State. Guards Audrey Roden and Victoria Davis have also captured games with at least 20 points.

San Diego State has three players averaging at least 11 points per game, led by Asia Avinger with an 11.9 points per game mark to go with 3.1 rebounds per game. Mercedes Staples leads San Diego State in rebounding with a 4.7 rebounds per game average while Sophia Ramos adds 11.1 points per game to go with 47 assists.
