The Stars extended their winning streak to four consecutive games with a 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on New Year’s Eve at American Airlines Center. Forward Joe Pavelski (1-2—3) recorded his 200th point with the Stars with his third point of the game, while defenseman Miro Heiskanen (0-2—2) chipped in two assists. Forward Jason Robertson (1-1—2) boosted his 2022 totals to 56-52—108 (89 GP) and surpassed Jamie Benn (2015: 48-59—107 in 85 GP) for the fourth-most points by a Stars/North Stars skater in a calendar year. Robertson trails only Dino Ciccarelli (1986: 63-51—114 in 80 GP), Neal Broten (1982: 43-67—110 in 76 GP) and Bobby Smith (1981: 36-73—109 in 81 GP) for the franchise mark. Rookie forward Fredrik Olofsson (1-0—1) scored his first career NHL goal, which also served as the game winner. Benn extended his point streak to a season-high eight consecutive games (4-5—9) and goaltender Jake Oettinger (40-18-4) became the fifth goaltender in NHL history to record at least 40 wins before their 25th birthday.

TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars open the 2023 calendar year with a trip to the West Coast where tonight they’ll take on the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena. (9 p.m. CT, TV: ESPN, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). This is the second of three meetings between the Stars and Kings and one of two in LA over the next few weeks (also Jan. 19). Dallas opened the three-game set with a 5-2 victory on Nov. 1 at American Airlines Center. Following tonight’s contest, the Stars will close out their California swing with a matchup against the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow at Honda Center.
I KNOW I’VE DONE THIS BEFORE
- In the series opener against LA on Nov. 1, forwards Jason Robertson (1-2—3), Tyler Seguin (1-0—1) and Roope Hintz (2-1—3) scored in a span of 90 seconds – the Stars’ fastest three goals since Feb. 4, 2019 vs. the Coyotes (1:11).
