FLAMES LAST GAME RECAP
DECEMBER 31, 2022 – CALGARY FLAMES [3] vs. VANCOUVER CANUCKS [2]
The Calgary Flames finished off 2022 with a New Years Eve clash against the Vancouver Canucks. In the opening 20, Calgary outshot Vancouver 13-9, but neither team was able to find the back of the net and the Flames were held off the board in the first for just the second time in their last eight games. In the second however the Flames offence exploded first with Elias Lindholm recording his 12th of the season, followed by Blake Coleman scoring shorthanded and MacKenzie Weegar recording his first as a Flame. Sheldon Dries would get a goal back for Vancouver in the ladder stages of the frame, but through 40 minutes of play the Flames were up 3-1. Elias Pettersson would strike just over four minutes into the third to draw the Canucks within one but that is as close as they would come and the Flames finished off the calendar year with a 3-2 win, their 10th win in their last 13 New Years Eve contests.
