CALGARY FLAMES NOTES:
FLAMES LAST GAME RECAP
DECEMBER 10, 2022 – TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS [5] vs. CALGARY FLAMES 4
The Calgary Flames continued their three-game road trip with their second stop coming at Scotiabank Arena to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. Auston Matthews opened the scoring 5:03 into the first, but the Flames would respond with a pair of goals from Noah Hanifin and Nazem Kadri to take a 2-1 lead. William Nylander would score late in the frame and a busy opening 20 minutes would end with the teams deadlocked at two. The Flames and Leafs would trade goals throughout the rest of the game with Nylander scoring again to give the Leafs their lead back, but Trevor Lewis netted his fifth of the season to tie the game back up. In the third Noah Hanifin scored his second of the night, giving the Flames their first lead since the opening period. However, it wouldn’t last long as Michael Bunting would draw the Leafs level and the teams remained in a stalemate through 60 minutes. Overtime was required and in the extra frame Jonathan Huberdeau was called for high-sticking and Mitch Marner would score the game-winner on the power play to give the Leafs a 5-4 victory.
