OTTAWA SENATORS NOTES:

LAST GAME: Dec. 6, 5-2 loss vs. Los Angeles: The Kings got multi-point efforts from four different skaters to break a three-game losing streak to the Senators as Ottawa suffered a 5-2 setback at Canadian Tire Centre. The contest saw the Kings paced by Kopitar’s three-assist outing to move him into a tie for fourth on the franchise list for three-plus assist games (24) while Arvidsson’s two goals extended his point streak to five straight against Ottawa. Anderson, Roy and Fiala also found the back of the net for the visitors while Durzi had two assists to extend his assist streak to six games, the sixth longest run from a Kings defenceman in team history. Ottawa recorded multiple power-play goals in a game for the third time in their last six with both Batherson and Chabot registering their fourth extra attacker goals of the season to move into a tie for the team lead. Copley registered his first win of the season for Los Angeles in making 31 saves. Talbot took the loss for Ottawa by way of turning aside nine of 14 shots in 29:49 of action before being replaced by Forsberg who stopped each of the 13 shots he faced. The Stars suffered their first shutout loss of the season in a 4-0 setback against the Toronto Maple Leafs at American Airlines Center on Tuesday. Dallas wrapped up the two-game season series going 0-1-1 against Toronto, which included a 3-2 OT loss on Oct. 20 at Scotiabank Arena. Forward Jason Robertson’s 18-game point streak came to an end in the loss, while goaltender Jake Oettinger’s record fell to 9-3-3 this season. TONIGHT’S GAME: The Stars have reached the penultimate stage of their five-game homestand with a matchup against the Ottawa Senators at American Airlines Center. (7:30 p.m. CT, TV: Bally Sports Southwest, Radio: The Ticket 96.7-FM/1310-AM). This is the second and final meeting between Dallas and Ottawa, which opened with a 4-2 Senators victory on Oct. 24 at Canadian Tire Centre. Following tonight’s game, the Stars will host Detroit on Saturday before embarking on a five-game road trip. With 33 points (14-7-5) overall this season, the Stars enter tonight’s matchup in second place in the Central Division, tied in points with the first-place Winnipeg Jets.

NEW MONTH, NEW ACCOLADE

  • Forward Jason Robertson was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4 after sharing the league lead with five goals in three outings (5-1—6) to power the Stars to a 2-0-1 week.
  • He scored once in a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 28, followed by his third career hat trick – including the game-winning goal – in a 5-0 triumph against the Anaheim Ducks on Dec. 1. Robertson closed the week with two points (1-1—2), as well as a shootout tally, as Dallas erased a four-goal third-period deficit in an eventual 6-5 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 4.
  • It’s the third time this season Robertson has been named an NHL Star of the Week, and it comes just a week after the 23-year-old was named the league’s First Star for the month of November. (More on that below).

BRIGHTEST STAR FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER

  • Robertson was named the NHL’s First Star for the month of November after leading the league with 15 goals and 26 points in 14 games (15-11—26) to power the Stars to an 8-3-3 November.
  • Robertson, who became the first player in franchise history to top the league in both goals and points during a calendar month, found the scoresheet in each of his 14 November appearances.
  • Robertson’s November goal and point totals also ranked second for a single month in franchise history, behind Dino Ciccarelli’s 16 tallies in March 1986 (14 GP) and Tom McCarthy’s 27 points in November 1983 (12-15—27 in 13 GP).
  • Overall, Robertson recorded multiple points in nine of his 14 outings and a quartet of multi-goal performances, highlighted by three straight such games from Nov. 21-25 (6-1—7).
