JUST KEEP SWIMMING

FORCE OF NECAS
Martin Necas tallied two points (1g, 1a) at LAK (12/3) for his team-leading eighth multi-point game in 2022-23, matching his total in 78 contests last season. He also extended his point streak to four games (11/26-12/1: 3g, 2a) and has now posted three point streaks of at least four games this season after failing to register a point in four consecutive games at any point in 2021-22. Necas has now recorded nine points in his last nine games (11/17-12/3: 5g, 4a), with a team-high five goals over that span. He paces the team with 28 points (12g, 16a) through 25 contests in 2022-23 and needs two more goals to reach his total from last season (14).

MEGASETH
Seth Jarvis registered an assist at LAK (12/3) to extend his point streak to five games (11/25-12/3: 2g, 3a), just one game shy of tying Martin Necas (10/24-11/4: 4g, 6a in 6 GP) for the longest point streak by any Hurricanes skater in 2022-23. Jarvis has now earned six points in his last seven games (11/21-12/3: 2g, 4a), with a team-high +6 rating over that span. Before this five-game stretch, he had been held to just one assist in his previous nine contests (11/6-11/23).

ROAD RAGE
With a win over LAK on Saturday, Carolina has now earned a point in each of its last seven road games (11/14-12/3: 4-0-3), marking just the eighth road point streak of seven or more games in franchise history (last: 4/1/21-4/27/21: 4-0-3). The Hurricanes have posted a 9-3-4 record away from home in 2022-23, marking the third-most road wins of any NHL team behind only NJD (11-1-0) and VGK (11-2-1). Carolina has already played 16 road games this season, tied for the second-most of any team, and they are scheduled to play each of their next three contests away from home (12/6-12/13).

Longest road point streaks, franchise history:
12 games: 2/23/04-3/27/04 (8-0-1-3)
9 games: 12/8/01-1/10/02 (6-0-1-2)

MAKING THEM PAY
Martin Necas scored his team-leading fourth power-play goal of the season at LAK (12/3), already tied for his second-highest single-season total (2019-20: 5 PPG in 64 GP, 2020-21: 4 PPG in 53 GP). Carolina has now converted on the man-advantage in four of its last five games (11/25-12/3: 6-for-15) after being held scoreless on the power play in six straight contests from 11/12-11/23 (0-for-20). Stefan Noesen tallied an assist on the goal and now ranks fourth on the team with seven power-play points (3g, 4a) in 2022-23.

BURN, BABY, BURN
Brent Burns recorded two assists at LAK (12/3) for his fourth multi-point and third multi-assist game in 2022-23. With another two points (1g, 1a) at STL on Thursday, Burns is the first Hurricanes blueliner to post back-to-back multi-point games this season and has joined Sebastian Aho (10/17-10/20: 1g, 5a), Andrei Svechnikov (10/17-10/20: 5g, 1a) and Martin Necas (10/29-10/31: 1g, 3a) as the fourth Hurricanes skater to accomplish the feat. His first assist against the Kings came on the power play, where he leads the team in assists (7) and ranks tied with Svechnikov (3g, 6a) for the team lead in points (9).

FROM RUSSIA WITH GLOVE
Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 31 of 33 shots faced in net at LAK (12/3) to earn his fifth win of the season. He has now won each of his last three games played (11/29-12/3), marking the longest win streak by any Hurricanes netminder in 2022-23, and he has posted a .934 save percentage over that stretch, with 71 saves on 76 shots. Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his nine appearances this season, and in seven of his eight career wins. Saturday’s game marked just his 10th career NHL/Hurricanes start, and his eight wins are the most in franchise history through any goaltender’s first 10 career starts. Only six netminders in league history have posted nine wins through their first 10 starts, and only three this century: Martin Prusek (OTT, 2002-03), Viktor Fasth (ANA, 2013) and Igor Shesterkin (NYR, 2020).

PESCATARIAN
Brett Pesce tallied an assist in his 500th career NHL game against the Kings on Saturday. He has now registered five points in his last five games (11/25-12/3: 2g, 3a), with a point in four of those contests, after tallying just three assists through his first 20 games of the season. Selected by Carolina in the third round (66th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Pesce became the 14th player and fifth defenseman from his draft class to skate in 500 NHL games. He also joined Nathan MacKinnon (COL, 1-1), Aleksander Barkov (FLA, 1-2), Sean Monahan (CGY, 1-6), Darnell Nurse (EDM, 1-7), Rasmus Ristolainen (BUF, 1-8) and Bo Horvat (VAN, 1-9), who were all selected in the first nine picks, as just the seventh player from his class to play 500 games with the team that drafted him.

Glen Wesley (1994-08): 913
Adam Burt (1988-99): 626*
Justin Faulk (2011-19): 559*
Tim Gleason (2006-13, 2014-15): 546

Niclas Wallin (2000-10): 517*
Brett Pesce (2015-present): 500*

RUSSIAN ALONG
Andrei Svechnikov scored his team-leading 15th goal of the season at LAK (12/3), giving him seven points in his last seven games (11/21-12/3: 3g, 4a). He required 10 fewer contests to reach the 15-goal mark than in any previous season (2019-20: 15-21—36 in 35 GP), and he has already tied his 55-game total from two seasons ago (2020-21: 15-27—42). Svechnikov has scored 10 of his 15 goals on the road and ranks tied with Bo Horvat (VAN) for the league lead in that category in 2022-23. Carolina is now 8-1-1 when he scores a goal and 12-2-2 when he registers a point, and only Martin Necas (13-2-3) has found the scoresheet in more of the Hurricanes’ wins this season.

TURBO BOOST
Teuvo Teravainen was activated from injured reserve on Friday and made his return to the lineup against the Kings on Saturday, logging 15:47 of ice time with two shots on goal. Teravainen missed 10 games (11/12-12/1) due to an upper-body injury suffered against EDM on 11/10, and at the time of his injury, he had recorded four assists in his last four games (11/4-11/10) and ranked tied for third on the team in that category.
