NICE TO SEE YOU, NOVEMBER
The Blue Jackets have picked up points in three-straight games following a 5-4 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. That game kicked off a season-high six-game homestand for the club with games from November 15-25. It’s part of a stretch of eight-of-10 games played at Nationwide Arena from November 10-28. Tuesday’s game also concluded a stretch of three-straight games against Metropolitan Division foes (2-0-1). The club plays five consecutive contests against Atlantic Division teams from November 17-25, including twice against the Canadiens on Nov. 17 and 23.
TWO DIFFERENT STRETCHES
Nine of the club’s first 12 games were competed against teams that made the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs, including facing off against the Stanley Cup champion Avalanche twice and Stanley Cup finalist once (Tampa Bay Lightning). Four of the next five games will be played against teams that failed to make the postseason.
THE COMEBACK BLUE JACKETS
Columbus earned victories when trailing by multiple goals in back-to-back wins over Vancouver (2-0) on Oct. 18 and Nashville (2-0 and 3-1) on Oct. 20. It was the fifth time in franchise history that the team has earned consecutive multi-goal comeback wins (MR: Feb. 8-10, 2022). These victories have a familiar feeling to the club’s wins in 2021-22 when CBJ set a franchise record after coming back at some point in the game in 23 of their 37 wins. The club finished sixth in the NHL in comeback victories last season. The team also trailed only Florida (11) with nine come-from-behind victories when trailing heading into the third period.
FROM THE BLUELINE
CBJ blueliners have recorded 1-2-3 in each of the last two games, 7-12-19 in the last nine outings and 11-18-29 in 15 games this season, ranking fourth-T in the NHL in goals. Defenseman Jake Bean recorded his second multi-assist game of the campaign on Saturday with two assists and leads the club’s blueliners in assists (tied) and ranks second in points with 1-5-6 in 14 games. Vladislav Gavrikov notched his second career overtime winner and fifth career game-winning goal on Tuesday, finishing with 1-1-2, while also skating in a career-high 28:40 TOI (previous 28:20 on Apr. 22, 2022 vs. OTT). He became the fifth different defenseman in NHL history to score each of his first two or more goals of a season in overtime and is also one off the franchise record for overtime goals by a defenseman in a single season (3; Seth Jones, 2016-17 & 2018-19).
ROOKIE REPORT
The club’s rookies, currently consisting of forwards Liam Foudy and Kent Johnson along with defensemen Nick Blankenburg, Marcus Bjork and Jake Christiansen have had a strong start to the season, combining for 6-9-15 in 15 games. They have helped CBJ rank second-T among NHL teams in goals and fifth in points. Johnson, who was seleced fifth overall at the 2021 NHL Draft, ranks second among NHL rookies in points-per-game (.58; min 4 GP), fourth-T in goals and 10th-T in points with 3-4-7 in 12 games. He has registered 3-3-6 in his past nine contests played, including recording goals in three-straight games from Oct. 22-25 (3-0-3) and points in four consecutive outings from Oct. 20-25 (3-1-4). Bjork has tallied points in his first two NHL games after scoring his first career goal in his NHL debut on Saturday and picking up his first career assist on Tuesday vs. Philadelphia. He is the first blueliner and seventh player overall in franchise history to score in his debut.
CAPTAIN BOONE JENNER
Boone Jenner notched a multi-goal game for the second-straight home game – and second time in the last three contests overall – with two goals on Tuesday vs. the Flyers. He has registered points in four of the last five contests (5-1-6) and is tied for sixth in the NHL in goals scored at home this season with 6-3-9 in nine outings. The forward also ranks 11th in the NHL in faceoff wins (171-of-312 faceoffs; 54.8 pct.). The 29-year-old, who was selected 37th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, is the longest-tenured Blue Jacket in his 10th season with the club, including his second as the team’s captain. The forward skated in his 600th career game on Nov. 4 vs. Colorado, becoming just the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise. With his second goal in Tuesday’s game, Jenner notched his 150th career goal with the Blue Jackets and became the third player to reach the milestone with the franchise, joining Rick Nash (289) and Cam Atkinson (213). He also ranks fifth on the franchise’s all-time list in points (294).
RK PLAYER TOTAL GP SEASONS WITH CBJ
- Rick Nash 674 2002-12 (9 seasons)
- Cam Atkinson 627 2011-21 (10 seasons)
- Boone Jenner 604 2013-current (10 seasons)

HERE’S JOHNNY!
Six-time All-Star left wing Johnny Gaudreau, who registered an assist on Tuesday to give him 1-4-5 in his last five games, leads the club in goals-T, assists and scoring with 6-7-13 in 15 games while recording points in nine of his contests. The winger has done most of his damage at home with 6-5-11 in ten outings, ranking sixth-T in the NHL in goals. He had a five-game points streak from Oct. 14-22 (4-3-7) and a five-game home points streak from Oct. 14-25 (4-2-6). It was the third-longest home points-streak to start a player’s tenure in franchise history. He played in his 309th consecutive game on Tuesday, the third-longest active iron man streak in the NHL and trailing only Phil Kessel (999) and Brent Burns (695). The Salem, New Jersey native, who signed a seven-year contract with Columbus in July, has collected 216-406-622 in 617 NHL games, including a career-high 40-75-115 in 82 games with Calgary last season when he earned First Team All-NHL honors.
TOUGH TO REPLACE Z
Zach Werenski recorded his first multi-point game of the season with 1-1-2 in Thursday’s win over Philadelphia to extend his points-streak to three-straight games (1-3-4) before leaving the with an upper body injury. Unfortunately, that was the last CBJ will likely see the club’s top defenseman this regular season as it was announced Friday that he suffered a separated shoulder and torn labrum and likely to miss six months. He led the club’s blueliners in goals, assists and points at the time of the injury with 3-5-8 in 13 games. The two-time NHL All-Star blueliner set single-season career highs in assists, points and time on ice and posted the third-most assists (tied) and points by a defenseman in a single season in franchise history with 11-37-48 and 25:40 TOI in 68 games in 2021-22.
