VISITING THE RANGERS
Tonight’s matchup is the Islanders’ first visit to Madison Square Garden this season. The Islanders enter tonight’s game 5-1-0 on MSG ice since the beginning of the 2021-22 season. The last time the Islanders visited was April 1, 2022, when Casey Cizikas, Ross Johnston and Matt Martin each found the scoresheet in a 3-0 Islander win. Mathew Barzal recorded a goal and an assist the last time the Islanders visited MSG. He has scored 17 career points (7g, 10a) while on the road against the Rangers. It is second-most amongst active Islanders in points on MSG ice (Parise, 18) and 16th-most amongst all active skaters. Zach Parise is the Islanders active leader in points against the Rangers, as he has tallied 43 (18g, 25a) in 61 games against them, eighth-most amongst all active NHLers. Josh Bailey is second on the team in points against the Rangers, with 32 (9g, 32a). Anthony Beauvillier has scored 13 career goals against the Rangers, third-most on the Islanders roster and by far
the most he has recorded against a single opponent in his career.

COMEBACK WIN
Last night against the Calgary Flames, the Islanders tallied their third consecutive win at home as they overcame a 3-1 deficit entering the third period and earned their first overtime win of the season (4-3). Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson scored the overtime game-winner on a 4-on-3 power play. It is the first time since 2001 that an Islanders defenseman has recorded the game-winner in two straight overtime victories (Dobson potted the game-winner the last time the Islanders recorded an OT Win on 1/1/22 vs. EDM). Monday evening was the second time in their last ten games that the Islanders overcame a deficit of at least two goals to win the game. It is the first time in club history that it has happened in consecutive home games (Oct. 29 vs. COL and Nov. 7 vs. CGY)

IN THEIR LAST SEVEN
Since the last time they played the Rangers on October 26, the Islanders have a 6-1-0 record, leading all NHL teams in that span. October 26 – November 3 was the first time the Islanders had recorded five consecutive wins since March 2, 2021. Last season, their longest win streak was four games. The New Jersey Devils are the only other Metropolitan team to record at least five consecutive wins so far this season.

FACE-OFF WINS
Last night vs. Calgary, Islanders forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau recorded 20 face-off wins, good for a single-game season-high. It is the first time an Islander has recorded 20 wins on the face-off dot in a single game since January 13, 2017, when John Tavares recorded 21 vs. Florida.

Monday night’s win vs. Calgary was the first time the Islanders have gone an entire game without taking a penalty (O PIM) since April 9, 2021, against the Rangers.

OUTSCORING THE OPPOSITION
The Islanders have outscored their opponents 26-16 since Wednesday, Oct. 26. They have been most productive in the third period, having outscored opponents 14-6 in the third in their last seven games. 14 of the last 24 Islander goals (since Wednesday, Oct. 26) have been scored in the third period. The Islanders have found the back of the net in the third frame in 12 of their 13 games to start the season (8-4-0), for a total of 22 third-period tallies. The Islanders matched a single-game season high as they recorded four goals in the second period on Thursday in St. Louis. The Islanders are 6-2-0 when they find the back of the net in the middle frame, and have outscored opponents 16-14 in the second period this season.

BLUELINERS
Through 13 games, Islanders blueliners have recorded 28 points, and have scored 11 goals so far this season. An Islanders defensman has found the scoresheet in 10 of 13 games so far. Sebastian Aho tallied his first goal of the season and First since April 19, 2022 on Monday night.
Ryan Pulock has recorded a plus-3 rating in three different contests this season, including twice since Oct. 26. He leads the Islanders with a +9 rating.

Adam Pelech set a new single-game season high amongst Islanders on Thursday, as he skated 24:30 TOI (his highest TOI since Dec. 19, 2021). Pelech has recorded two multi-point games through 12 games this season. Last year, Pelech needed 64 games to record two multi-point outings.

Scott Mayfield and Robin Salo each recorded their first career multi-goal games on Oct. 15. It was the first time since January 1993 that two Islanders defensemen have recorded multi-goal outings in the same contest.

Robin Salo’s +4 rating on October 15 was a career-high and matched the Islanders’ single-game high set last season by Brock Nelson (Nov. 4 vs. MTL). He is the first Islander defenseman since Denis Potvin (most recently in 1982) to record two goals and record a +4 rating in the same game.

FORWARD PRODUCTION
Nine Islanders forwards have recorded three or more goals through 13 games this season. Last night vs. Calgary, Islanders forward Anders Lee scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season to help the Islanders to a 4-3 win. Three of his seven goals so far this season have been scored on the power play.

Josh Bailey recorded an assist last night at UBS Arena and has found the scoresheet in five of his last seven games. The Islanders are 5-0-0 when Bailey records a point so far this season.

Brock Nelson is tied with Mathew Barzal for the team-lead in points (14) and has been held off the scoresheet just twice since October 22. Five of the last six Islander victories have included Nelson recording at least one point. He tallied an assist in Monday night’s OT win.

Mathew Barzal leads the Islanders and is tied for third-most in the league in assists (14). It is the most assists recorded by an Islander through the first 13 games of the season since 1984 (Brent Sutter 21, Mike Bossy 17).

Kyle Palmieri scored his fourth goal of the season on Monday night. He is two points shy of his 400th career NHL point and has recorded at least a point in three of his last four games.

GOALTENDING
Islanders netminder Semyon Varlamov has a 6-3-0 record against the New York Rangers since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, leading all NHL netminders against the Rangers in that span. The last time the Islanders visited the Rangers, Varlamov became the second goaltender in NHL history to record four consecutive shutouts on the road against a single opponent, as he turned away all 27 shots faced in a 3-0 Islander win at MSG.

Last night vs. Calgary, goaltender Ilya Sorokin made a season-high 43 saves on 46 shots to help the Islanders capture their third straight win at home. His 43 saves on 46 shots were one shy of matching Sorokin’s single-game career-high. Sorokin has a .950 SV% since the Islanders’ win against the Rangers on October 26, when Sorokin earned his first shutout of the season. He leads NHL goaltenders in save percentage (min. 3 GP) and has allowed just nine goals on 180 shots in that span.
