− Nashville won its 900th game in franchise history on Thursday vs. St. Louis.

− The Predators became the ninth NHL franchise with 900 or more since 1998-99 (the team’s inaugural season).

− Nashville became the first team among those who joined the league after 1998-99 (Columbus, Minnesota, Vegas, Seattle) to hit the 900-win milestone.

− Additionally, it marked David Poile’s 900th as GM of the Predators. He became the fifth GM in NHL history to record 900 wins with a single franchise, joining Harry Sinden (BOS), Lou Lamoriello (NJD), Ken Holland (DET) and Jack Adams (DET).

BIG GUNS STEP UP
− Roman Josi (1g-2a), Filip Forsberg (3a) and Matt Duchene (3a) all recorded three points in Thursday’s win vs. St. Louis.

− Josi, who scored his first goal and notched his first multi-point outing of the season, recorded his 25th career three-point game. He trails only Erik Karlsson (36) and Victor Hedman (33) for the most such games among NHL defensemen since his debut season in 2011-12. In 2021-22, Josi led all NHL blueliners in three-point games (12).

− It was Forsberg’s 31st career three-point game, the most in Predators history. Thursday also marked his first multi-point outing of the season.

− All three of Duchene’s points came in the third period, matching the franchise record for most assists in a single period. It was the 17th time in Predators history a player has recorded at least three assists in a single period.

GRANNY APPLES
− Mikael Granlund has opened 2022-23 with six assists and seven points in his first nine games.

− Prior to Thursday’s game vs. St. Louis, it was the 11th instance of a player in franchise history recording at least six assists in the team’s first seven games of a season. The last to do so was Roman Josi in 2021-22 (6a).

− On Oct. 18 vs. Los Angeles, he became the first Preds player to post a multi-assist performance this season (2a).

− Granlund recorded a career-high 53 assists last season, also the second-most on the Predators. His 53 assists were the most by a center and the third-most overall in a season in Predators history.

THE HERD LINE
− Tanner Jeannot (3g-1a), Colton Sissons (3a) and Yakov Trenin (1g-2a) have combined for 10 points in Nashville’s last five games.

− Jeannot scored for the third time in a four-game span on Thursday vs. St. Louis and added an assist on Oct. 20 at Columbus. He’s now tied for second on the Predators in goals with three after leading all NHL rookies in the category last season (24). Jeannot is also third among all NHL skaters in hits (37).

− Jeannot, playing in his 102nd career NHL game on Oct. 20 at Columbus, recorded his 50th career NHL point with his goal; per NHL PR, among players to debut with the Predators, only four required fewer games to reach the mark: Filip Forsberg (67 GP), Marek Zidlicky (76 GP), Alexander Radulov (82 GP) and Patric Hornqvist (98 GP).

− Sissons tallied two assists on Oct. 20 at Columbus for his first multi-point game of the season.

− Trenin recorded his first two points of the season against the Blue Jackets (1g-1a) and added an assist on Thursday vs. St. Louis.

NINO
− Nino Niederreiter, who signed as a free agent with Nashville in July, has four goals in his first nine games with the Predators to begin 2022-23.

− He recorded his first assist with the team on Oct. 20 at Columbus.

− He scored Nashville’s first power-play goal of the season on Oct. 15 at Dallas, ensuring him of at least one goal on the man advantage in each of his last 10 season.

− He found the back of the net three times in Nashville’s two games against San Jose in Prague, including twice in the second half of the back-to-back.

− Niederreiter became the second player in franchise history to score three or more goals through his first two career games
with the Predators, joining Steve Sullivan (4g in 2004). He also became the fourth player in team history to score at least
one goal in each of his first two career games with Nashville and the first since Luke Kunin in 2020-21.

PRAHA PREDS
− Nashville opened the 2022-23 regular season with two victories against the San Jose Sharks at the O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic as part of the 2022 NHL Global Series.

− It was Nashville’s third and fourth regular-season games outside of North America in franchise history; the Predators began the 2000-01 season by playing back-to-back games against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, going 1-1-0.

The Oilers posted a franchise high 26 shots on goal in one period on October 24th vs. PIT. The previous record of 24 shots was done three times and most recently against Calgary on Feb. 1/20. Evander Kane also posted a team high nine shots against the Penguins and tied an Oilers record for most shots in a period by a player, recording eight shots in the second period. Taylor Hall co-holds the record, posting eight shots previously on Feb. 19/11 vs. ATL). Kane holds the league record of 10 shots in a period by a player, which he recorded on Nov. 1/18 against Columbus as a member of the San Jose Sharks.

ART ROSS MCDAVID
The 2021-22 campaign saw McDavid (44-79–123 in 80 GP) lead the League in points for the second straight season, giving him the opportunity to become the first player to win three consecutive Art Ross trophies since Jaromir Jagr (1997-98 – 2000-01). A 100-point campaign in 2022-23 would mark McDavid’s sixth, tying him with Sidney Crosby for the most among active players and trailing only Wayne Gretzky (15x), Mario Lemieux (10x), Marcel Dionne (8x), Peter Stastny (7x) and Mike Bossy (7x) atop the all-time list.

McDAVID HITS 700-POINT MARK WITH SEASON-OPENING HAT TRICK
With Edmonton trailing 3-0 midway through the second period, Oilers captain Connor McDavid factored on four of his club’s five consecutive goals, capping off the night with the NHL’s first hat trick of the 2022-23 season. McDavid (3-1—4) boosted his career totals to 242-459—701 (488 GP) and became the fastest active player to reach the 700-point milestone.

  • The three-goal performance marked the second season-opening hat trick of McDavid’s career (also Oct. 4, 2017) as he became the third player in NHL history to record multiple hat tricks in season openers alongside Brendan Shanahan (2) and Cam Neely (2).
  • The Oilers overcame a three-goal deficit to win a season-opening game for the first time in franchise history. Edmonton became just the ninth club in NHL history to do so and the first since Anaheim on Oct. 5, 2017. Coincidentally, the Ducks overcame a 3-1 deficit Wednesday night to record their second-ever multi-goal comeback win in a season opener
