ANAHEIM DUCKS NOTES
TODAY’S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks host their final contest of October in a Dia De Muertos celebration vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs at Honda Center (5 p.m. PT, TV: Bally Sports SoCal, AUDIO: Ducks Stream, RADIO: 96.1 FM en Español). Anaheim owns an all-time record of 1,022-877-302, including 575-379-145 at home and 447-498-156 away from Orange County. Anaheim’s nine-game October schedule concludes tonight, with the month featuring three home and six road contests. Anaheim is 121-136-44 in the month all-time. Following today’s game, the Ducks will embark on a three-game road trip with visits to San Jose on Tuesday, Nov. 1 (7:30 p.m. PT), Vancouver on Thursday, Nov. 3 (7 p.m. PT) and San Jose again Saturday, Nov. 5 (7:30 p.m. PT).

DIA DE MUERTOS: The Ducks will celebrate Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) tonight at Honda Center. In honor of the Hispanic holiday which celebrates and honors the remembrance of friends and family members who have died, Ducks players will wear custom warm-up jerseys designed by Anaheim-based artist and lifelong Ducks fan Gustavo Jaimes, with jersey proceeds raised by the Anaheim Ducks Foundation to benefit Latino Health Access, a Santa Ana based nonprofit organization that partners with communities to bring health, equity and sustainable change through education, services, consciousness-raising and civic participation. A live Spanish audio broadcast of tonight’s game will be available on Que Buena KRQB 96.1 FM in addition to a new alternate language Ducks Stream (Español) station via TuneIn. San Francisco Giants broadcaster Erwin Higueros will return as the play-by-play voice with Jesse Beltran returning as the color analyst.

TERRY TALK: Right Wing Troy Terry has recorded points 1-2=3 points his last three games and five points his last six games (1-4=5) to lead Anaheim in points (4-5=9) and assists, while he co-leads in goals. Terry has recorded multiple points in each of his first two home contests this season (also 1-2=3 Oct. 12 vs. SEA), the seventh player in Ducks history to post multiple points in each of his team’s first two home games of a season, the first since Corey Perry in 2013-14. Only one player in franchise history extended their stretch to three straight contests: Ryan Getzlaf (3 GP in 2010-11).

FEATURING FOWLER: Defenseman Cam Fowler ranks 10th among all NHL players in TOI/game (25:06), and has led Anaheim in TOI each of the first seven games this season. His 27.0 shifts per game also pace the club. In 2021-22, Fowler led Anaheim in TOI/game (24:25) while he led the Ducks in shifts per game the last two seasons: 2021-22 (27.4) and 2020-21 (27.3).

GENERATION Z: Center Trevor Zegras has recorded 4-1=5 points through eight games this season, co-leading the Ducks in goals in 2022-23. Zegras (30-49=79 points in 106 career GP) scored his 30th career goal Oct. 26 vs. TBL. Among players to debut with the Ducks, only four required fewer games to reach the mark with the franchise: Paul Kariya (63 GP), Bobby Ryan (81 GP), Dustin Penner (92 GP) and Ryan Getzlaf (99 GP). Through eight games last season, Zegras had 1-2=3 points while in 2020-21 he had recorded two assists through his first eight NHL games.

M(A)C ATTACK: Rookie Mason McTavish has picked up four assists (three primary) through Anaheim’s first eight games in 2022-23. McTavish leads the Ducks in primary assists and co-leads in assists, while he co-leads NHL rookies in primary assists (3), and ranks tied for second in assists (0-4=4) and tied for sixth in points (0-4=4). McTavish has already surpassed his 1-2=3 points in nine games with Anaheim last season.

KULI’S KORNER: Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov earned his second assist as a Duck, Oct. 26 vs. TBL, marking his 200th career NHL point (42-158=200). Of Kulikov’s 200 career points, two have come with Anaheim (0-2=2), 24 with Minnesota (7-17=24 in 80 GP in 2021-22), two with Edmonton (0-2=2 in 10 GP in 2020-21), two with New Jersey (0-2=2 in 38 GP in 2020-21), 27 with Winnipeg (5-22=27 in 2017-20), five with Buffalo (2-3=5 in 2016-17), and 138 in Florida (28-110=138 in 2009-16). Kulikov currently leads Anaheim in blocked shots (18) and co-leads the club in hits (15).

DUCKS-MAPLE LEAFS: Anaheim and Toronto open a two-game season series tonight at Honda Center. In the 2021-22 season series, Toronto earned a 5-1 win in Orange County (Nov. 28) and a 4-3 SO win in Toronto (Jan. 26). The Ducks own a 13-29-9 all-time record vs. the Maple Leafs, including a 9-11-2 mark in Orange County.
