HIT THE ROAD JACK(ETS)
The Blue Jackets fell to 3-3-0 in their past six games after Friday’s 4-0 loss to the Boston Bruins. Columbus embarks on a week-long road trip first stopping in New Jersey on Sunday before flying to Finland to face the Colorado Avalanche as a part of the 2022 NHL Global Series. Friday concluded a stretch of five of six contests played at Nationwide Arena from Oct. 18-28. The club also plays 14 (13 at NWA) of its first 20 games of the season at home.

GOING GLOBAL
The Blue Jackets and 2022 Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche face off in a pair of 2022-23 regular-season games at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5 as part of the 2022 NHL Global Series. Columbus heads to Helsinki, Finland following its contest at New Jersey on Oct. 30. The team has several Finns on the club. General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen is a native of Kuopio, Finland and the NHL’s first European-born general manager while left wing Patrik Laine (Tampere) and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo (Helsinki) also hail from the country. Columbus will practice in Helsinki, Finland on Tuesday, Nov. 1 and then in Tampere, Finland on Thursday, Nov. 3 prior to taking on Colorado in the two games.

THE COMEBACK JACKETS
Columbus earned victories when trailing by multiple goals in back-to-back wins over Vancouver (2-0) on Oct. 18 and Nashville (2-0 and 3-1) on Oct. 20. It was the fifth time in franchise history that the team has earned consecutive multi-goal comeback wins (MR: Feb. 8-10, 2022). These victories have a familiar feeling to the club’s wins in 2021-22 when CBJ set a franchise record after coming back at some point in the game in 23 of their 37 wins. The club finished sixth in the NHL in comeback victories last season. The team also trailed only Florida (11) with nine come-from-behind victories when trailing heading into the third period.

ROOKIE REPORT
The club’s rookies, consisting of forwards Liam Foudy and Kent Johnson, along with defensemen Nick Blankenburg and David Jiricek, have had a strong start to the season, combining for 4-5-9 in nine games. They have helped CBJ rank second-T among NHL teams in both goals and third-T in points, trailing only the Ottawa Senators (8-5-13 in 8 GP) and Montreal Canadiens (4-7-11 in 9 GP). Jiricek, who was Columbus’ sixth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut on Friday vs. Boston, registering one shot and three hits on 15:35 of ice time. At 18 years and 334 days, he is the seventh youngest player overall and second youngest defenseman to make his debut in franchise history (Rostislav Klesla; 18 years and 200 days on Oct. 7, 2000 vs. Chicago). Johnson (3-2-5 in 8 GP) recorded goals in three-straight games from Oct. 22-25 (3-0-3) and points in four consecutive outings from Oct. 20-25 (3-1-4).

CAPTAIN BOONE JENNER
Boone Jenner has recorded 1-3-4 in nine games this season and ranks sixth in the NHL in faceoff wins (109-of-184 faceoffs; 59.2 pct.). The 29-year-old, who was selected 37th overall at the 2011 NHL Draft, is the longest-tenured Blue Jacket in his 10th season with the club, including his second as the team’s captain. The forward is one game from tying Nick Foligno for the third-most games played in club history. He also ranks third on the franchise’s all-time list in goals and fifth in points with 145-143-288.

HERE’S JOHNNY!
Six-time All-Star left wing Johnny Gaudreau leads the club in scoring with 5-3-8 in nine games while recording points in six of his nine contests. The winger had his five-game points streak (4-3-7) snapped on Sunday at the Rangers and his five-game home points streak snapped on Friday vs. the Bruins (4-2-6). It was the third-longest home points-streak to start a player’s tenure in franchise history. He played in his 303rd consecutive game on Friday, the third-longest active iron man streak in the NHL and trailing only Phil Kessel (991) and Brent Burns (687). The Salem, New Jersey native, who signed a seven-year contract with Columbus in July, has collected 215-402-617 in 611 NHL games, including a career-high 40-75-115 in 82 games with Calgary last season when he earned First Team All-NHL honors.

A ROSY RUN
After going pointless in his first four games, Jack Roslovic collected assists in three-straight contests from October 20-23 (1-4-5). It was one game short of tying his career long set from Jan. 1-Feb 7, 2021 (1-5-6). He collected multi-point efforts in each game of the back-to-back set last weekend, recording a goal and an assist vs. Pittsburgh on Saturday and two assists at the Rangers on Sunday. The 25-year-old center set career highs for the fourth time in as many seasons in 2021-22, finishing with 22-23-45 and 10 multi-point efforts in 81 appearances.

DON’T SLEEP ON Z
Defenseman Zach Werenski has recorded 2-2-4 in nine games this season, leading the club’s blueliners in scoring (tied with Jake Bean) and in goals (tied with Andrew Peeke). He registered points in two-straight games (1-1-2) from Oct. 23-25 . He ranks 10th among NHL blueliners in points-per-game (min. 20 GP) dating back to Feb. 10, 2022 in recording 7-20-27 in 35 contests (.77).

UP IN CLEVELAND
Columbus’ AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, have kicked off the 2022-23 season going 4-4-0 after earning a 4-2 victory at Syracuse on Friday. Joonas Korpisalo, on a conditioning assignment, stopped 38-of-40 shots in the victory. Forwards Emil Bemstrom (5-6-11, ranks 2nd-T in AHL in scoring), Kirill Marchenko (5-4-9, 1st-T among AHL rookies in goals and 2nd in points) and Brendan Gaunce (4-5-9) lead the club in scoring with Bemstrom and Marchenko each collecting points in seven of eight games in 2022-23. 2022 sixth overall pick David Jiricek, who was recalled by the club on Wednesday, led AHL rookie blueliners in assists and points (tied) at the time of recall with 0-4-4 in five games. Jesper Bratt enters tonight’s contest riding a career-high eight-game point streak (3g-10a). As of Oct. 29, Bratt ranked third in the NHL for points with 13, while Boston’s David Pastrnak ranked first with 17 PTS (7g-10a).
